Hey guys, to give you a brief overview: I'm a male who just turned 23 in late August. My father is not bald and neither is my mother's father (although he is thinning out at 78).

I've always had really thick and nice hair, but in January I moved to Rio and during my 8 months there I noticed a stark increase in the amount of hair in that would come off in the shower and on my pillow every night. It got so bad that 20-30 strands of hair would fall off in the shower, and about 20-30 hairs would be on my pillow every morning. At first I thought it was just Brazil's water and crummy shampoo, but then I noticed a huge difference in the location of my hairline, specifically at the temples.

I shaved my head on July 4th and that same day started taking 20,000mcg of biotin each day, magnesium, resveratrol, and a few other supplements. That same day I also started using nizarol shampoo every day, with one day a week off. I just started taking Niacin every day after lunch.

I'm proud to say that when I wake up in the morning, there are no hairs on my pillow and only a few hairs come out with each shower. I also cannot as easily pull hair off straight from my scalp (used to be able to pull 2-3 out each time)Here's my problem though: just recently I started noticing that smaller hairs, mostly under an inch long and very thin have started to fall out. There are usually between 5-10 that I find each morning in the shower. There are also thinner hairs along my temple, although I do not know if this is regrowth from my regimen, or further thinning :S

I have ordered 4 months of finasteride that are waiting for me in my kitchen (back in the US btw), but I wanted to get some of your opinions before I take that leap. So I've attached 3 photos below of both sides of my temples and my front (taken this evening). I have also attached a photo taken mid august for reference.

Can you guys help me out in determining if I'm actually going bald and if I need to start taking finasteride? Or is it just natural maturing hairline? HELP! Snapshot_20121009.JPGSnapshot_20121009_1.JPGSnapshot_20121009_2.JPGSnapshot_20121009_3.JPGSnapshot_20120817.JPG

Im starting to believe there isnt.

ditto

When I was 22-23 and my hairs were getting a little thinner I just thought its a mature process of growing up..few years later and was oh crap this is just all my hairs falling out and not coming back lol

Too late

Catch hair loss when it happens is the catch 22 situation, am sure every guy on here would pay a million dollars if they could to go back in time hand themselves a package called big 3 treatments for next 10 years :)

There are rare exceptions though.

ie myself. I balded in about 5 months, and before I even knew it my hair has diffused a **** LOAD in 5 months.

The funny thing is that it's 2 years about the 5 month loss and my hair has stayed the same from that time.

How I yearn that my hair thinned in 10 years or something lol.

No real difference between mature hairline and male pattern baldness I dont have any idea what guy made up that term. I mean whether you call miniaturized hairs a mature hairline or baldness I mean the process happening is the same your losing hair and it aint coming back. So I mean maybe mature hairlines are common but your just saying some baldness happens to most men but its still baldness. I say do what you can now to keep what you have.

If you can afford it I would consult a doctor or dermatologist about it and get their opinion regardless of what people on here might think. From the pictures I would say no your okay, but its not easy to tell from pictures if you lose density of hair or things like that.
You have pictures just watch it and pay attention to how it changes or again see a derm.
