Here’s goes:

I’m 22, been using propecia for three years, minoxidil 2 years, tricomin 1 year

I have a receding hairline which has slowly and steadily continued to recede,
as well as some thinning up front

I tried switching propecia for dutasteride a few months ago but suffered bad side effect (achey joints), got scared, and switched back

nothing seems to be working and I’m about at the end of my rope

maintenance is really what I’m after, I know regrowth is tough in the front

I’m interested in adding revivogen (shampoo & topical) to my regimen

is revivogen more geared towards frontal loss than minoxidil? do I have a shot at
maintenance w/ a combo of propecia and revivogen???

should I drop minoxidil if I add revivogen? minoxidil seems to be completely ineffective
on my hairline

any advice would be much appreciated

Achey joints isn't really a very "bad side effect" is it? Even it was caused by the dutasteride (which is unlikely) How long did you stay on the dutasteride for? Did you wait long enough to see if the problem would resolve itself on its own without having to stop the dutasteride?

To be honest in your situation there is little to do now except use dutasteride or maybe try adding a topical anti androgen like spironolactone or fluridil.

Also you could try using a stronger formulation minoxidil like a 15% version sold by Dr Lee at

or genhair at

Genhair

Good luck.

There is no treatment "geared" towards frontal area. All treatments work for the whole scalp area, though regrowth becomes easier the further back we go. Frontal hairline area is tough unfortunately.

Do not drop minoxidil. Add a topical inhibitor(spironolactone, revivogen) as you said while staying on propecia. That would lower your scalp dht levels even more.

You could also swap minox5% with Xandrox5% (leave 12% for later)
Azelaic acid is also a potent topical dht inhibitor.

Good luck.

With dutasteride you need to give it at least 3 months for your body to "get used" to the hormonal change. Once youve given it 3 months you can decide whether or not the sides effects are bad enough to make you quit or not. Loads of people here get sides as soon as they start a med, but then soon subside.
Why not try adding Nizoral 2%?

so dropping minoxodil/tricomin for revivogen is not an option? i have experienced zero regrowth on either. I'm worried about attempting revivogen and minoxidil b/c they say u can't apply them simultaneously, they have to be three hours apart or something. This is a huge inconvenience, and would also leave me with greasy greasy hair. I was on dutasteride for four months and I felt almost arthritic. My left hand was crabbing up and I couldn't play guitar they way I wanted to. I'm so confused......
