21 Year Old Transplant Seeker, Advice Appreciated

I'm aware that the typical twenty-one year-old isn't considered advanced enough to be considered by reputable surgeons as being a candidate for transplant surgery, but I'm currently at about a Norwood 3 and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice. Rogain hasn't offered any results, and I'm not at all fond of medications. I'm fully aware that I'll never get back what I had at fifteen, and don't anticipate much more than a conservative hairline (a forehead roughly twice as high as someone without male pattern baldness), and wouldn't at all mind the "widow's peak" look at about a third the original density on top, obviously thinner (about a quarter or a fifth as thick) on the sides and back. I've done my homework and turned away from a few scam artists (i.e. Bosley, MHR, et cetera). Are these expectations still too high? Am I being foolish seeking surgical treatment at a NW3 or NW4? I'd appreciate any correspondence.

I'm in your same position.

I think I'm going to look into Armani or Shapiro and a few others.

Expect bad replies, seems like a lot of people are anti-hair transplant.

Hey guys,

Please read the thread that Trepidation started on Dr. Jeff Epstein. He also is very young and has potential for male pattern baldness in the advanced classes. He now realizes that his finite donor would never give him the coverage he would ultimately need especially as he gets older and continues with losing his hair. He now regrets that he ever got started.

So really anyone with the potential to hit the high Norwwod classes needs to consider the "entire" picture, not only just what we might need or want today. Something to consider.

I'll second that Gillenator. You have to rememver that ultimately it is only you who is bothered about your hairloss and ultimately there are to many risks at your age. I jumped into this with two feet and no research, at least your doing that. It has to be your decision but in my opinion (speaking from experience) you are still too young to procede with this. Get on Proscar, maintain what you've got and consider it when we've got better options in the future i.e. BHT/HM.

Trep,

You're absolutely right. The only other thing I wanted to mention guys is do not immediately go to the Internet to seek the purchase of the meds. Any patient seeking medicinal resolve should first be physically examined by a physician, diagnosed and then treated (prescription). There are also subsequent follow-up appointments after starting the meds.

Also remember that any med manufactured outside the US is no guarantee that you are getting the real deal. Be sure you know what you are purchasing because I hear of the scams all the time. :freaked2:
