Hi guys,
I am planing to test treating my hair by myself. I was recently at a derm, and he was just mocking me and prescribed me only minoxidil to get rid of me. I decided to get a hormonal panel next week and order 120 pills of finasteride from America, since I wont get a prescription here in Europe. I feel like my left temple is thinning abit. I am planing to start out with 0.5 mg of finasteride and keep track of sides and receding. If I will start losing hair, I will up the dosage to 1mg. I will do a hormonal panel every 6 months to keep track of my test levels. I will post pictures to note where I started off. What do you guys think, anything I missed out? Should I do anything different? Cheers

What if you used dutasteride instead...? Can I just say though, your hair is beautiful so I'm glad you are doing something about the situation.

I am not jumping on dutasteride for a sole reason, and that is the possible side effect being gyno. I do not care about my pecker dying, having brain frog or anything but gyno is a b**ch. I myself developed gyno in puberty, age 12 and have it till this day. It completely shattered my self esteem in my teens when I did not have a toned chest yet. All shirts look retarded on you. Anything white was a no go. It still looks like sh*t from the sides till this day but atleast its not as cancer as it was. Gonna work for two months on my summer break when I should be partying to afford surgey.

Bro your hair looks amazing. Like nobody could tell that you're balding. I would first go to a good derm to get confirmed whether you're balding or not. Plus take a look on the hair of your brothers /relatives. If you're sure about balding I'd just jump on finasteride and see how that'll work for you. Mixing up stuff from the very beginning is bad bc you can't tell what product is working for you.

But first get some professional confirmation before jumping on any treatment. If you have male pattern baldness, I'm applauding you bc you caught it f*****g early. Best of luck.

Thanks for the compliments buddy. The problem is that there is not a single hair specialist in my country. There are derms, but they all know jack sh*t. Male baldness here is more looked as of "dont be a pussy n just shave it". The derms are specialised in acne n stuff like that and yoink 85 euros to prescribe you minoxidil if you come for a hair appointment Had a derm visit at a reputable derm, and he asked me if I have dandruff, and off of that he gave me a broscience ansver whether im balding or not. Looked at my family tree, the only one really balding is my father, but he told me he lost 60 procent of his hair when he was building our house. He said that at some point he wanted to kill himself just to get a good sleep from all of the stress he had. I just decided im not giving a single cent to those entitled slob derms in my country.

I'm just curious where you from?

Well right now you don't have anything to worry about bc your hair is in a very good condition. If you lose tons of hair, have miniaturized hairs, scalp itching then these are signs for hairloss and time to worry. If you don't experience these kind of things I would just have an eye on it but no need for any treatments. Once you notice a change in your hair you still caught it super early and have all options left.

Nonetheless, your hair is beautiful and has a colour to die for. I'm glad you're at least willing to go on finasteride.

I think that when you notice a sign like massive hair shed, that you are already a minute too late. I had severe acne in my teens, and developed gyno afterwards, so my image was crushed. I was feeling helpless, since there was nothing to prevent those two things to happen. I like to feel the other way around with my hair. Its the thing that kept me going when all went to sh*t, so lets say ill honor them with keeping them on my head as long as possible and I actualy can do something to prevent them dying out (atleast to a certain extent). As to where I am from, the country is named Slovenia. It borders with Austria and Italy. Just a small, but nature wise beautiful sh*t-hole.

Thank you. I think you just have to weight out what hair actualy means to you. Considering the pros and cons of finasteride, taking it is a no-brainer to me.
