Well, as you can tell from the attached photograph, the 2008 world submarine racing championship was a stellar event. A record number of competitors pitted their skill and expertise against a strong international contingent of submariners. Several records were broken in near-perfect conditions.
As expected, the eastern block nations proved very difficult to beat. By jettisoning non-essentials such as oxygen and nutrients, they were able to gain a strong advantage in the final rounds.
Organisers are confident that the event will continue to grow in status as a popular spectator sport.
