Hello, I just turned 20 this week, I would say i'm NW1.5-2,I still have a lot of hair and my temples are decent.

I'm on finasteride 0.5mg daily / minoxidil 2 times / Derma 2 times a week. I'm currently experiencing sheeding.

Due to low budget (student), I can't take 1mg finasteride daily. So I woudl know if I could add 0,5mg of dutas on every monday instead of 0,5mg fina (only monday) or maybe 2 times a week ? Would it be useful or no ?

Thank you guys.

I don't wish to sound harsh but you need a bit of perspective.

Norwood 1.5 is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I personally don't think people should take medication and dealing with possible side effects until they're a Norwood 3 Vertex which is were male pattern baldness properly kicks in. I certainly don't think you should take something as strong Dutasteride which is used for hormone therapy for transgender people. Your regime is already more than sufficient and adding a pill as strong as Dutasteride when you've only got temporal recession is definitely OVERKILL.

A Norwood 1.5-2 can last for decades. My Dad's been a Norwood 2 for nearly 5 decades from his late teens to his late 60's. According to many on this forum, he'd have been a candidate for Finasteride etc in his late teens despite the fact that he's still got a great head of hair at 67. It's a f*****g madness.

My recession started incredibly early. I lost my entire temporal points on both sides at 13 and was a Norwood 2 by 17. Yet despite that, I stayed at Norwood 2 for 19 years and only became a Norwood 3 Vertex at 37. My crown started to thin about 9 months ago and I was forced to take Minoxidil and Finasteride which has significantly improved my situation but I certainly wouldn't take medication if I didn't have to and definitely wouldn't if I was a Norwood 1.5.

My advice to you is to keep an eye on it but chill out about it. It could be a LOT, LOT WORSE.

I had to say thank you, I just realised how I was obsessed with it, thinking every time how I could build a stronger regimen JUST IN CASE I could lost density in the future ... Now I will relax and stay with it some years, wait to see what happens. Thank you again for your time, you probably avoid me to do a big mistake, it could really hurt my health.

I wish you best luck in the future :)

Here is photo of current situation. It was the day I started the regimen (two weeks ago).

Glad to be of assistance. :)

You've got very minor miniaturization but your hairline is pretty good. Looking at your hairline, I'd be surprised if you were Norwood 3 before you were 30. In fact, you may be Norwood 1.5/2 for a very long time. You should definitely chill out about it. :) Worry when you get to Norwood 3 (particularly Vertex) but even then it's recoverable. I did a thread today on my hair loss.

Minoxidil and Finasteride is the reason why you're shedding and it is very frightening initially. The shedding will stop. In my case, the shedding stopped after a month and in 2.5 months I went from a Norwood 3 Vertex to a strong Norwood 2 with virtually no crown thinning.

I personally don't think you need Finasteride and Minoxidil at your stage but the worst case scenario is you'll probably hold onto your hairline as long as you take the pills. In all likelihood however, you'll gain. Dutasteride is thus unnecessary.
