Hey,

Please read entire thread to get full understanding!

I registered here to get some opinions about what I'm in for with my hair, am I getting a mature hairline or do I have male pattern baldness? I assessed myself using the Norwood Scale found here: http://www.nobaldnessnow.com/images/1.jpg and to me it looks like I'm currently a 1, at least in my opinion but that's why I'm posting here, to get the opinion of others.

I've recently the past months been noticing a lot of shedding, whenever I comb my hair in the morning I always see 15-20 hairs and the same before I go to sleep. When I wake up in the morning I will usually find 5 hairs or so on my pillow, so I'm probably losing around 50-60 hairs a day which really worries me. As for the history of male pattern baldness in my family, my dad is definitely a Norwood IV, but he's also the only one with a Norwood IV in my family, no one else on my moms side or dads side has male pattern baldness. My dad was a heavy steroid user in his younger days, he achieved a great physique with very large muscles so I believe that could be a reason for his loss since he started going really bald at 30 and I would of course not want that to happen for me.

As for my hairs state, I still have very thick hair and no sign of loss on the crown at all, it's still so thick that even when wet my scalp cannot be seen. I have added a few pictures below for you all to evaluate. I used to smoke from 16-20 and stopped two weeks ago, I smoked heavily from January 2016 to September the 27th and decided to quit the 27th and haven't touched a cigarette since in hopes of that could maybe be the cause to my shedding, but I heard it takes a while for the effects of stopping to work so we will see what happens. I also since quitting have started living a very healthy lifestyle again than what I used to when I smoked cigarettes, I eat healthy, get a lot of vitamins, drink plenty of water and exercise a lot such as running and lifting weights. Because of my dads steroid use I will never in a million years touch that, I will stay clean and healthy as much as I can.

If any of you can see sign of MBP then please let me know, I have already researched a big deal before posting this thread. I was looking into 5mg Propecia, I could split them with a pill cutter and take 1.25mg dosages everyday forever if that's what it takes to keep my hair. I have nice thick hair and would like to keep that until I grow old enough to not care about my looks anymore. Only thing that scares me from taking it is the side effects like not being able to get a hard on, penis shrinkage etc. I've read many horror stores and if any of you have used it please comment below and tell me what to expect if I ever start using it.

The pictures below are all taken with strong flash except one crown picture so you can see what my crown looks like naturally without a extremely bright light shining onto it. Note that I've always had a large forehead ever since I was little.

Thanks and let me hear you opinions!

You got some recession def going on around your hairline. Get finasteride and pretend like it doesn't have sides. Honestly my first months I felt really worried about sides, but as the time passed and the stigma with finasteride faded for me personally I realize there is minimal to no side effects on this drug FOR ME... results may vary, but if your goal is to keep your hair the way it is, get on finasteride. You still have solid hair bro

Thanks for your input man, yes, my hair is still pretty solid and I'd like to keep it this way for as long as I can. I will start looking for some Propecia 5mg and get that ordered soon. Will a daily dose of 1.25mg be enough to slow or stop the shedding? I mean, I'm ready to take this for many years to come as long as I can keep the same hair or something like it. Should I add any other products or will finasteride be enough to maintain?
