twenty years old and for the majority of my life i've had thin hair.
however, about two years ago i've had much more noticeably thinning hair, especially at the vertex.
friends joke that i'm balding but at the same time i don't know if i am just experiencing hair loss or is this signaling something else?
since hair loss is affected heavily by genetics, i asked about my dad's family history (who is bald). But he had a different hair loss pattern, starting from the temples to the crown and receding all the way past the vertex.
my mother's side, all the men do not have any hair loss.
my hair loss pattern however has been thin hair and hair loss from the vertex, there have been no signs of receding from the temples at all.
so with different patterns of hair loss, is it really genetic? or is this a bigger problem?
