I am a 16 year old male who has been on Fincar for 2 months. So far i have experienced increased thinning in my left temple (not shedding!) and a little reccession. This is extremely worrying becuase before starting Fincar i literally had no thinning at all!!! Also i have had no side effects from taking Fincar at all, so please do not go on about how a 16 year old boy should not be taking Fincar.

My question is: Has anyone here taken Fincar (or any sort of Finasteride) and experienced thinning (not shedding) and then recovered?

I would really like an answer becuase i am starting college in a week. It would be so horrible to not be able to style my hair at all especially when everyone elses looks at their best!!!?!?!

Thanks to everyone on this site in general, lol finding it was a god send. I knew there would be people out there like me but i had just never come accross them.

Someone of 16 should NOT be taking fincar, you will grow up with a penis the size fun size Mars bar.

At 16 he will still be developing so messing around with your hormones can mean that you dont fully develop. Its 18 and over for a reason, am not trying to stop you taking it, im just saying.

No. male pattern baldness can actually start long before puberty is over.

I noticed my hair thinning about 17-18 personaly... only at 22-23 was it getting noticable.

But id tend to agree perhaps finasteride at 16 tad early... but if it is definate thinning why not start?

Id try also nizoral shampoo early on....

I started Fincar because my hairline was receding. Anyway can anyone answer my original question instead of giving me precautions. Lol for the record my dick is already 6.5 inch so i aint bothered if it doesn't grow longer

Original Q: Has anyone thinned from Finasteride and then recovered???

Absolute rubbish. You should not even think about taking Finasteride this young. 18 is an absolute minimum.

Soloman,

I was on finpecia for 2 years and then switched to fincar early in 2008. Both are made by the same company just in different dosages as your probably know. When i first started finpecia, i shedded like crazy. I am talking shedding for all parts of my scalp which made me feel even worse becuase i had no idea what was going on. After a few months of this persistant shedding, things finally calmed down. The shedding really slowed down and my scalped began to feel alot better. i maintained pretty well for about two years. After recently switching to fincar, i have been experiencing the same results. Shedding has been nothing like when i first startted which alot of people seem to notice in the early stages of the drug. Im not gonna sit here and tell you that you are too young or anything like that, but from my experiences, things seemed worse befor they got better. I definately was not comfortable in the beginning because the shedding was pretty scary but i stuck with it and i am happy i did. i am currently on fincar right now and i have enjoyed the same results as with the finpecia i was on two years prior. I had a short stint with proscar last summer in which i noticed no difference in results which is a good thing. Stick with it and dont let the shedding get you down. It really is a roller coaster ride but if you stay consistent, you will more than likely see good results. Good luck bro

(Question to Seeves)

First of all thanks for answering my question rather than just giving me stupid precautions that i am already aware of. When you were shedding on Finpecia could you actually see your hairline recede becuase my hairline has receded slightly while i have been on Fincar. Also did you see any parts of your hair thin out e.g. temple??? At what month did the shedding stop and the regrowth start???

Please can you answer these question becuase i am not really sure wether i am shedding or the drug is having no effect and my hairloss has gone up a gear!!!!

Again thanks for answering!!

well ive been on finasteride since june- so thats2months 1week & ive been on minoxidil for 3 weeks. my hairline has shedded a bit which sucks a bit since now ive got no choice but to wear a fringe, but shedded hear is meant to grow back thicker & stronger so I gotta ride it out I guess.

My hairline has not receded all that much at all since being on fincar and finpecia. I did notice shedding in my temple areas as well as pretty much my whole head. It is possible that my hairline shedded a bit but its hard to gauge unless you have pictures because sometimes your mind tricks into thinking its worse than it is if thats what your looking for. Some days it looks better than others but overall it pretty much stays the same. I do know for a fact that when i first started, I shed a scary amount compared to what I was losing before. I thought the pills were fake at first but I wanted to keep it up just to see what would happen. I think that was a good choice. I have a success story that you can take a look at. Ill get the link for you.

I also started Nizoral about two or three weeks ago because i had Seb-dermatitis. Does Nizoral increas shedding? Is it even a good thing to be taking in conjunction with Fincar.

I have been on Fincar for 2 months and a week. In that time my left temple has thinned which is weird (My hair was completely thick pre-treatment) and my hairline has receded!

I am wondering wether the Nizoral that i started 2 weeks ago is the catalyst for all the thinning and receding?

does Nizoral cause bad shedding because has become extremely thin recently.

Any replies would be helpful
