Hey! So, I'm a 21 male spanish caucasian male. I've been 2 months on generic finasteride, taking 1mg EOD, but since nothing seemed to happen I decided to jump into 1mg every day (last 14 days).

My progress in these 2 and a half months has been actually negative. I've been losing hair and my hair got worse. I would said that even more hairs are shedding from my head.

I know that 2 and a half months is not enough time, but it is like I have never been taking anything. Regarding the sides, first night I took finasteride I couldn't sleep very well, I was so anxious about possible sides that it was very difficult to fell asleep. The following next week I got some left testicle pain, but I'm not still sure if it was actually psichologic. Since then no apparent sides (even since I started 1mg every day, 14 days ago, I'm more "horney" than I was even before to start finasteride, weird).

So, I have here 2 bottles of minoxidil that I bought some time ago but never decided to use, I'm quite afraid of shedding. I still got hair all over my head, but Im diffuse thinning from the forehead to the vertex, classical one.

I'm wondering that maybe I should accept the alopecia and no medication will work on me, maybe get a micropigmentation treatment when time is right, what do you think, guys?

Just give it a year. I think it's better to know if it works or not than asking yourself "what if" years after losing your hair.

Come on man, 2 and a half months?? Massive shedding for the first three months is a normal response. You have to accept that it's going to get worse before it gets better. At the latest, the shedding phase will be over by your 5th or 6th month on finasteride (every day). Buzz your head for the first few months and stick with it.

Hey guys, I'm gonna follow your advice and stick to it at least untill summer. My concern now is the possibility that the first 2 months were a waste because of I was taking the pill only EOD, what do you think?

That should not be a problem.

Well, I'm gonna update. Maybe the hair loss is lower than 2 months ago, but the hair is worse, thinner and not healthy looking. Almost 5 months and no improvement.

Patience young grasshopper.
If hair improved over night none of us would be here.
Familiarize yourself with the mechanisms by which hair grows (i.e., cycles, anagen, telogen, etc.) and stay optimistic.

If there was substantial evidence that something were supposed to happen on finasteride in 2 months, many more men would have been using it, even with the side effects. Give it at least 1 year.

Shedding maybe? The hair sheds before it grows thicker hair on these drugs. And by no improvement do you also mean the hair loss didn't even slowed down?

Guys, also that ive noticed these past days is that Im shedding also from the sides of my head (hair above ears, I think you know which área Im referring to) and a little in the back too. Can be this caused by finasteride?
