I'm a Norwood 2. I've been using minoxidil for about a year now, and experienced very limited success. My hair grew back a bit, but most of the new areas of it were peach fuzz, and i still am labeled to be "balding". Recently, i noticed an increase number of unwanted hairs on my face and other areas, but never thought the cause was the minoxidil, until i read some articles and experiences people were having. So, my question is should I try something else? Should I be greatful for the results i am getting, and deal with the side effects? Will 5% minoxidil give me greater results (and side effects)? Also, I read about Nizoral and T/Gel, and some of their "hair growing" properties. Should I try one of them in conjunction? Thanks.

I read that using 5% minoxidil instead of (and even after) 2% will help you regrow about 5% (difference of 20% more hair than baseline with 2% minoxidil vs. 25% more hair on 5%). Not a big difference, but you might want to give it a shot. I would switch to 5% if I were you. Here's the article:

Glad to hear you've had some success so far. I just started with 5% this month, so I can't offer much more help than this. Good luck.

I'd stay on the minoxidil since it's working for you. If you quit, you can expect a bad shed within a couple months. It could be you're just getting hairier as a part of getting older. If it's the minoxidil, you gotta decide which is worse, losing hair on the head, or getting extra hairs elsewhere.

You can't take my bottle of minoxidil away with a crowbar. FROM MY COLD, DEAD HAND!

5% is superior for regrowth and retention.

Many folks find they grow body hair, have thicker bears etc.

I did.

No other real option for minoxidil. for what it does save NANO, which is NOT FDA proven but has some advocates here.

I use NANO shampoo and minoxidil.

Good luck

When I dropped finasteride I added back NANO as a possible weapon. I had used it for years and then stopped when it was clear that propecia and minoxidil were working.

For me, Folligen seems to have worked. It certainly reduces daily hair loss and it clearly helps keep hair from turning gray, which may not be an issue for you.

I just starting using topical Arginine and will see how that does.

Don't know yet.
