Hi everyone, first time posting. I've never liked talking about my hair because it's been a massive insecurity of mine but recently it's been making me so depressed so i'd love to have your opinion. Long story short I think i'm balding/ thinning. I'm 19 years old and I've noticed this since I was about 17. Around February/March I didn't think much of it, I always found a hairstyle or a way to hide it and even though I had thin hair, I never noticed it that much. Around mid March I went for a haircut and that was the start of my downfall. The barber did a terrible job, and when I went home I wanted to cry. My hairline looked so bad and my hair on top was so short I could pretty much see through my scalp. I've linked photos of when I was younger so you guys can get a good idea of my hairline before/now, I've always had thin hair throughout my childhood and up until now. Even my hairline has never been great I always had a haircut that hid the sides. I'd love to get your thoughts based on the pictures. My dad is the only person in my family, from both my mother and father's side, that is bald. I've also been struggling with my hair's health recently, I used to shampoo every day because the next morning my hair would be pretty greasy so I had no choice but I've decided to only do it about once every other day or every 3 days, and I started using a dandruff shampoo because I noticed I had dandruff. I used the dandruff shampoo for about a week but stopped because I noticed it made my scalp very dry. Now every time I leave the shower, my scalp is really dry and I don't know what to do anymore, I think that explains why I've been shedding more hair than usual recently. I plan on going to a Dermatologist very soon, i'm just afraid that she's gonna break the news that I have male pattern baldness and prescribe Propecia or something, call me a wuss but those side effects scare me and I don't think I could take the risk. If you've taken propecia and have anything to say about it i'd gladly like to know, Any advice is welcome.

Looking at your photos, at your younger age you didn't have a ton of hair to begin with, so your hair now is looking absolutely normal. Don't worry, everything looks good.

Looks like not so great natural hairline/thickness/density. You lost the baby hairs on hairline/temples, which is normal and receded a bit but not much. You just don't have a great hairline from birth.
