Hi. As the title says, I am a 17 year old looking for advice to prevent hair loss (I think primarily on temple.. my crown looks fine) and to prevent my temple from receding more. I will be 18 in April.
First for my background, my mom's dad had balding and wore a toupee. My dad also has balding. I have two older brothers who also have receding hairlines. One of them is 26 and has a similar hairline to mine and told me his receded than has stayed the same for the past five years. My 21 year old brother has a worse receding hairline though. There's nothing missing from their crowns as far as I know or can tell or anything which is the same case as mine.
I care about how I look a lot and the receding hairline really affects my self-esteem like I think most people on this site. Especially at a young age.. it really sucks!!! :wow: I feel like it's getting worse and worse... I want to prevent it from getting worse and if possible help bring my hairline back.
I need advice for what I should do? I'm scared to use something that will make my hair fall out or get worse and possibly not get better because I don't think my hair is that horribly bad yet. I just want to prevent it from becoming horribly bad. Should I see a doctor for a prescription or advice, and if so, should it be a dermatologist or my doctor doctor? I already have seen a doctor and he told me it just looks like male pattern baldness and asked about my mom's dad's hair.. and that was it.
Should I start on propecia or rogaine?? Should I start one at a time or like 3 things at once. Any advice will help!
