im 17, will turn 18 soon and never had hair problems before.

many months back, my scalp started to itch a lot and quite frequently, i would wake up in the middle of the night with uncontrollable itching.
I also always had a lot of dandruff, which after visiting the dermatologist (a couple of months ago) proved to be seborrhoeic dermatitis..
My exams are coming, so there definitely is stress, but other than that, everything else is normal.
im not obese or extremely skinny. But i do have a very oily scalp and skin (pimples everywhere)
I was advised ketoconazole 2% topical cream for 2 months (which is over). the Treatment proved effective itching wise (it hardly ever itches now)
but my hair is still thin and low in number. i wont be able to visit the derma again till next month due to very important exams.( can't call either)

so i wanted to know, should i continue applying the ketoconazole(i apply and leave overnight) and shampoo everyday (cause my hair feels extremely dry) or stop and shampoo infrequently (because seb dermatitis is known to recur) . i'm scared of losing more hair due to recurrence of s.d or due to too much shampooing.

Additional :- No one in my family is bald, my dad approaching 60s and has a head full of hair (with a bit of normal dandruff), both grandfathers had hair till old age.
I use head & shoulders anti dandruff shampoo (zinc pyrithione) and as of now, shampoo everyday.

It may not be a good idea to shampoo everyday.

Sometimes dudes who have no known family history of MBP still get it. You need to inherit certain combinations of genes for baldness to manifest, parents who are carriers but not sufferers can give you the wrong combination. Go to a dermatologist. Ketokonazole is a milt anti androgen and anti fungal agent, it shouldn't cause hair loss.
