I have now been on Fincar for 2.5 months so i think it is safe to say that i am not going to get sides. I have had literally no sides at all which slightly scares me into thinking that the Fincar is fake.

I went on Fincar to maintain my temples and it has done the opposite, it has let them recede and thin. This so annoying becuase i was receding at a slow rate before, maybe 0.5cm a year!!

Am i just being stupid and this is what happens (temples recede further) to you after you start taking finasteride and things recover later????

I have seen cases on here were people shed from taking finasteride but i have not seen people recede further while on it. Please give feed back because i am thinking of giving up, 2.5 months is a long time i think.

2.5 months is no time at all when it comes to hair.

Stick it out and good luck :)

At the age of 16 it is extremely irresponsible to be taking finasteride. DHT plays a vital role in secondary sexual development (yes, this includes penile and testicular development!). I am a medical student, and I STRONGLY advise you to go to the doctor who will probably make you wait until you're 18 when your puberty is more likely to be complete.

Regardless of his age, I would like to know the answer to the question. Does finasteride deliberately make your hairline worse, or does it thicken up eventually? Anyone notice any thickening after some noticeable thinning in the hair line area? It is so hard to find the question to this answer as it seems that everyone with a success story has minoxidil in their regimen and can't really attribute anything to the finasteride alone :thumbdown2:

I say, do what you need to do to save your hair while you still have the chance.

If only I'd have known about these treatments when *I* was 16, I woudn't be bald now. And although I'd like to think I've come to terms with having a shaved head, it would be really really really nice to have hair.

Of course no doctor is going to approve of you taking it - they need to cover their asses.

There is currently nothing to suggest that finasteride worsens hairlines. Any worsening is generally in SPITE of using finasteride, not BECAUSE of.

Cosmetics vs. sexual health and development.

Which wins? I say having sex with a smokin hot college girl who appreciates that your penis has grown is more important that two years of hair loss. If I had it to do over again, I'd start finasteride when I was 20, but I NEVER would have started it when I was 16-18 because even though I noticed a recession in my hairline in high school, my secondary sexual characteristics are more important even in view of hairloss I've endured.

As for hairlines, I actually see new hair sprouting at my temple moreso than at my crown after a month. Maybe my vertex is just going to happen, because minoxidil was fairly ineffective at the vertex for me as well. It worked wonders to halt my hairline recession though...
