About two months ago I noticed extreme thinning on the sides of my head just in front of my ears. I haven’t had much hair loss in other places besides there. I do lose hair on the top of my head but there is no noticeable change in the pattern. The widows peak and v shape have always been evident and haven’t changed. I have also been losing hair on other parts of my body. I went to a Dr and had my thyroid levels tested and they were normal. I was wondering if anyone could clue me into what was happening. Thanks so much!

You have male pattern baldness my guy. At such a young age too. I would get on finasteride when your 18

Thats what I originally assumed as well. My family has a history of hairlines receding at my age but suddenly stopping. The odd thing is a few different dermatologists have said it is not mpd so I was wondering what it was

Were they boy or girl derms?

Also look at your temporal points... they are almost gone. That means your sensitive to dht which means you have genetic baldness.

Unless aggressive baldness is extremely prevalent in your family, you have nothing to worry about.

Ur hairline looks absolutely fine to me. Baby hairs is normal.
Thats what I needed to hear man. Ive been stressing over this. My dermatologist says Im showing signs of traction alopecia from pulling at it too much. Thats how stressed it has been making me.

So you think it looks normal

He’s saying it could be normal if hair loss isn’t common in your family. He could be right, no one can tell you for sure. If you’ve got a lot of baldness in your family with that hairline male pattern baldness is highly probable. Even if you don’t, that doesn’t mean you’re in the clear, it just means you might be.

Baby hairs are normal, miniaturized hairs are signs of male pattern baldness. It can be really hard to tell the difference to the layman. Just keep an eye on it, because at this point you can’t afford to lose more hair. If it moves any further you have your answer.

Ok thank you but, I haven’t really had much hairloss on top of my head at all so Idk that it could be baldness

that temple has always been like that because when I was little I was hit on the head very hard and the hair stopped growing around that area. Thats part or the reason my widows peak is so extreme. Another question I had is could it be due to my methylphenidate. I upped the dosage greatly about a month before the hairloss began. The fall out seems to match patterns mentioned in other case studies.

Also this hair loss has only been happening for about a month and a half if that helps anyone with anything.
