I got my hair cut the other day and the barber use a "hair thinner scissor" on me, because I have thick hair, and then he says hmm you seem to be losing some hair on your crown, I got a bit annoyed because it felt like some of my hair was being plucked out and then he announces I seem to be losing hair.

I asked my mum later and she says she sees nothing unusual, I asked a friend and he says that it's just a spot where the hair starts growing at the crown and that he doesn't see anything unusual either (I have two of those circular hair growth spots, had it since I was born)

I took some pictures today of my head because what the barber said was worrying me and I got a shock, it was not what I expected:

I have two hair growth spots so I'm not surprised to see the two spots, but they look big to me. I know my hair was thinned out by that damn scissor but I also know it's commonly used so I don't think it can really make anyone bald as such. I have no hair loss anywhere else, infact I wish I had a little less hair in the front because when it grows a bit long it looks like a dense forest.

Should I be worried?

You have a double crown. Congrats, they're quite rare. Looks to me like you could be thinning a bit tho, whats your family history for balding?

LOL thanks, rare maybe, but difficult to comb hair at the back of the head.

My dad is going bald at the crown too, but he started losing hair at about 40. He too has good hair at the front and sides, but he's nearly fully bald at the crown since he's about 50 now.

My brother is 20 and he's definitely losing hair, same deal, crown area, much worse than me, and he's got very thick hair everywhere else.

Mum's side has no balding at all, dad's side has balding.

definately loosing hair at the crown. i would suggest finasteride for that. Hold off on the minoxidil.
