Hey guys, I have now been on Proscar, Rogaine and Nizoral shampoo for just over 10 months now and as the days go on, I feel like I am in the unlucky percentage that finasteride does not work for. I am still losing hair in the shower when I shampoo. I thought finasteride was supposed to stop hair loss? I just find it hard to believe that my hair is going to improve while I am still losing hairs. I did not expect this 10 months in. I thought by now, I would have noticed a huge improvement. ahhhhhhhh. This is so frustrating. I dont know If proscar is going to work for me or not now. Is 10 months too soon to notice a huge improvement? While on proscar, are you going to be losing hairs but ur hair still improves in texture and quality? I am only 21 years of age so I thought that I would have responded very well by now. I also have no side effects at all. I literally have not missed a dose of proscar yet, I take it religiously every morning after breakfast. I have also added an omega 3,6 and 9 table every day aswell. I think i've thinned out a little bit more since I started. My question is, should I stop using the treatment or is it too early to define whether the medication is actually working or not? Is it true that it can take up to 2 years to see any results? I'm starting to feel a bit hopeless now.

I would appreciate some good advice guys,
Thanks.

I understand your discouragement.Stay on your regimen for now and consistently continue with it accordingly. As I understand , it's not so uncommon for the benefits to be noticeable as long as 1-1.5 years. It may be advantageous for you to take pics of your head now so you have a base line comparison. For the moment and much to your credit you are doing exactly what is proven to work (exception being the Omegas). Thanx for sharing and all the best.

I have a theory that your hair will shed in cycles while taking finasteride. As time goes on it should be less devastating. However I will need to see photos of your hair to determine efficacy.

I'm in the same boat as you (have only been on Proscar for 6 months though). Also use Nizoral and Rogaine. Many people will suggest to you to wait. I personally am too impatient - in another 6 months time, what if finasteride hasn't started to work? I'll have lost more hair. I see no reason why starting RU at this point in time bears any risk. dutasteride, on the other hand - not yet.

I think that is a good plan. At 12 months, I think you should see at least some improvement. Even if you have a small improvement, I think you should stay on finasteride and at least give it another year. I am about 10 months in also and I think sometimes it can be difficult to see if you are getting results. With all the shedding and growing going on, I think sometimes it is difficult to see any improvement.

Exact same situation I am in. Been on finasteride (Generic proscar from Target that I cut into 1/4s) for 9 months now with minoxidil daily and nizoral. Nothing noticeable so far and maybe have regressed.
Trying to have faith right now in the proven treatments. Ride it out brother, maybe things will turn out to be alright for the both of us =)
