Well guys,

after 1 year on finasteride (+duta last 4months). I can say my hairloss has not stopped.

my temples have receded a lot more. I personaly don't think that my temples would have gone this fast if I was not on finasteride and dutasteride.

After 8 months on finasteride, my temples where much worse. so I decided to use avodart 2x a week icw the finasteride....But nothing changed, temples kept receding! :-(

I did stop minoxidil around the 8 month mark, which I only used on my temples. After stopping minoxidil I lost all those little hairs which it was holding on to in the temple area.

I'd like to thank god for this ****ed up curse.

hair transplant is the only option now, and still it will not give a reasurance...

"Cancer of the soul" how convenient. But true!!! Since the balding got more agressive, I havn't felt as the same person I was before...

This is really killing my confidence, but I can only say 1 thing. Don't sit on your bum doing nothing, if you are not happy whit your life than go and earn some money and undergo a hair transplant !!!

I have given finasteride and duta enough time to work and it did not do ****. I will probably drop the duta and go on with finasteride alone. I have been working these past few months and have a consultation next week for a hair transplant !!!

I am only 23 and I know it is maybe to early for an hair transplant since my balding has not progressed all the way yet, but I can't stand these ****ing receded temples anymore! It is killing the person in me, I am not the happy guy I once was. Who knew such a stupid thing as HAIR can make a person so ****ing depressed huh :)

But I am going to undergo a hair transplant to fill up my temples 4 sure !! And if after a few years I have to undergo another hair transplant to fill up other balding areas. NO MPROBLEM, I WILL DO THAT.
IF THAT IS WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY IN LIFE.

so, what I realize now is, don't put all your faith in finasteride. YES it will probably maintain your hair longer than normal, STOP HOPING that you will get regrowth bc only few of us do get regrowth. IF you are unhappy about your hairline or vertex or whatever. go and get an hair transplant. WORK FOR IT and don't be lazy. I WAS lazy and put all my hope in finasteride... hair transplant is my only option, and frankly i'd like to say: "an hair transplant really isn't a big deal."

I'll do everything to be happy again even if it means getting 3 hair transplant's

I'm not convinced. It will probably then take longer in your case, but I'm sorry to hear.

Well guys,

After 8 months on finasteride, my temples where much worse. so I decided to use avodart 2x a week icw the finasteride....But nothing changed, temples kept receding! :-(

I did stop minoxidil around the 8 month mark, which I only used on my temples. After stopping minoxidil I lost all those little hairs which it was holding on to in the temple area.

That's the key point right there, you suddenly stopped minoxidil 4 months ago, which definitely won't have helped! Everyone who suddenly quits minoxidil after a long period of time gets a huge shed, not just Mionx hairs, but your existing baseline hairs will shed too... before growing back a few months later.

I'd strongly advise you to stick with finasteride and Min.

hair transplants is a stupidly risky game if you're only 23 and not willing to take any meds for the rest of your life.

I stopped minoxidil bc it only made my hairs shed! And I gave it 8 months. After 8 months my temples were much worse thx to minoxidil... Then i stopped and all those small hairs (which were not growing at all) fell of.

An hair transplant at 23 is not stupid bc I know that I will only receed in the temples and probably the front hairline in a couple of years. My middle an vertex are still very very thick. It are just my temples which have gone too far... SO i am filling them up. And if in 5 years I need to fill up my recedibg hairline.. So be it, whit pleasure.

BTW I NEVER SAID THAT I AM QUITING finasteride! i will keep on finasteride and ween of the avodart which I have been taking 2x weekly with the finasteride.

And if we can believe all the hype around the new treatments which are comming out in 5 years, We stand a good chance in keeping a lot of hair.

Life is so beautiful, it is actually really ironic how a person's hair can change his whole way of life.

I was a real athlete, semi pro soccer player who trained every day for hours and hours. Now I just don't have the motivation anymore. Thanx to hairloss.
I have a Bachelor degree in Economics, and was gowing for my Master but quit thx to hairloss.
I loved going out whit my best friends, going on vacation, meet new girls but stopped all of that thx to hairloss.
Lost contact whit my best best best friend ever who I knew all my life. He was like a brother I never had. Now I don't talk whit him anymore bc I just don't want to anymore, Thx to hairloss.

And i can keep going... Believe me...

hair transplant(s) HERE I COMEEEE!!!!!

Tomisthinning, I believe the meds do work to some degree. But nothing magical.

I don't see why an hair transplant would be stupid on the age of 23. If your hair starts to thin or fall in other areas in the future, then just get another hair transplant to fill/ fortify it.

Getting a strip of skin CUT OUT OF YOUR SCALP permanently to have some follicles stuck on another part of your head, of which many of the grafts might not even survive... That's butchery. I honestly can't get my head (ha!) around the idea if hair transplants.

I am not going for a Strip, but an Fue transplant. It doesn't leave scars or anything.
Btw, it has 99% succes rate when you do it at a reputable clinic like I am going to do :).

Most people's happiness are directly correlated with their level of LOOKS. Ther only thing that matters in life is maximizing your looks, as that is ALL people will subconsciously judge you on. Having a full head of hair just means you can do a lot more enjoyable **** like going to the beach and into the rain and wind without ****ing worrying how your temples are showing. The best years of your life, both in terms of looks and socially, are from 10-30, so you better ****ing make some of it during that time.

OP!

Do not give up. Give finasteride more time and possibly increase the dose until you see some progress. dutasteride should have done miracle, but you only took it twice a week-not enough specially for aggressive hairloss. I am assuming you are Cauc./European with lighter hair? If you are, then it is unfortunate that those Androgenetic Alopecia groups go the fastest at younger age, even before age 25/27.

If you are actually ready for an all-out war against your Androgenetic Alopecia, then take dutasteride. everyday alongwith finasteride, then add minoxidil, and also anti-androgen topical such as Flutamide solution. I think you will be amazed with results.

Contrary to common belief, hair transplant is not really a solution and does not give you a full head. Hair is usally sparse sometimes like corn-field when noticed at head length. All those hair transplant before/after pictures are misleading and from top angle for maximum marketing benefits. Also, you will need thousands of grafts to have some natural look and then there is a question if you hve enough donor area. I would wait on hair transplant for few more years as they are advancing into new era of cloning/regeneration/stem cell that are far more promising and less intrusive.

Yeah, i'll try dutasteride 3-4x a week. For 2 months to see if that will make any difference. But since I started using dutasteride, I have an inexplicable itch on my head now... It comes and goes, but it is very noticable. So I don't know what to think of dutasteride personally :s.

And yes I am European, no I don't have light hair but dark brown.
