24 year old male, hair loss since 19 year old.
When it started it I had some super sheds which lasted for a few months. After those subsided I kept losing hair, but at a slower rate. It's been a tough battle since. I tried Minoxidil for a year but it didn't do much. After some years I decided to see a dermatologist and he prescribed me Finasteride.
I've been on it (1.25 mg/day) for almost a year now and all that has happened is my hair getting worse and worse.
Before I started I didn't have noticeably thin hair yet, but my situation has gotten so much worse. I've basically gone up two norwoords...... (In between NW3.5 now, diffuse pattern)I can't hide it anymore.
Personally I think this isn't working out, but I'm no expert. My body certainly responded to finasteride but not in the way I had hoped for. Could this be hyperandrogenicity? I really feel like it is, why:

My body hair has gone up quite significantly.
My scalp is very itchy a lot.
My skin is oily.
There's a lot of flakiness on my scalp, even after I've washed it.

And lately my libido has suffered a bit too. (I can still get perfectly fine erections, if I'm in the mood...)

What on earth should I do? I'm so lost. I'm thinking about coming of finasteride for 1 or 2 weeks and then restart with a lower dose (0,5 mg / day).
Would you consider this a smart thing to do?

Without pictures, how can we even give you some advice? Do you have before/after pics to make a comparison?

Could get on dutasteride. Honestly if you don't respond to finasteride or minoxidil, there isn't much hope for the time being. If finasteride isn't working I would just drop it, and give duta a try if you want.
