0.5mg and 1mg

Im getting a little confused i keep reading on the internet that a dosage of finasteride 0.5 is the same affect as 1mg, if this is correct then surerly everyone would be taking 0.5 instead of 1?? I take finasteride 1mg for 3.5 years thinking of taking half a pill instead my hairloss is stablised and is very slow.

If you have no sides then stay on 1, some people take lower dose due sides, but it's true that taking it every other day is like taking it everyday there have been reasarches on it

but if its the same as taking 0.5 surely its better to take and cheaper to take half a pill, if you no what i mean. Whats the point in taking a whole pill when half is as effective? Only sides i get is testical/prostate pain from time to time.

All I know is that my doctor prescribed me 1mg daily, and in my opinion he is pretty much on the ball (I even suspect he's used it himself), so I don't think he would prescribe me 1mg if a smaller dose could do the same. In the Merck study 1mg was given daily, and to me the consequence of decreasing the dosage may mean that it would not work as effective as it is suppose to, and I may lose hair.

Cutting the pill can be unmatched and powder can be lost, however 1 mg every other day will be as effective since it dosent leave your body so fast

Somewhere from the internet you can find the graph what shows dht inhibition percent / finasteride dosage. If I remember quite correctly 0,5mg finasteride inhabits around 65-70% and 1mg 75-80%. finasteride's half time is around 8hrs I can't still say that for sure but I remember that I did read it from somewhere.
