Even when my hair is all grown in at the leanth I like it (about 2 to 3 inches ).It dosent shed for about 3 months??????

I shave my head once a year and after it all grows back in ,(about two inches ) I dont get any sheding for about 2 months or so .Dose any one know why this is ?Is it good idea to shave ur head once a year?
