From my understanding, lots of things can. But you can zone in to what it is depending on where the hair loss is occuring, and if it's hormonal you'd probably find changes in your nails and rate of growth, and if it's a deficiency, you'd probably also find nail weakness etc.

Hey, I'm pretty sure it is alopecia areata, it sounds just like it. Not sure about picture adding, I'm computer illiterate!
