So I used a small quantity of dmso, in which i dissolved the sandalore. The sandalore dissolved fine (DMSO dissolves basically everything lol),I then added this dissolved solution to distilled water. Is the water the culprit? I'm just not comfortable putting pure DMSO on my head. What do you...
Right, I did add it to the dmso and let it dissolve. But when I tried a higher concentration and did the same thing, it precipitated out. Guess I should ask a chem major I know.
Hm ok. What do you suggest? The official formula developed by the company that was put in the nature paper reads:
LOTION component (INCI name) quantity (w/w %) Alcohol denat 15-35 PEG-40 Hydrogenated castor oil 0.5-3 Sandal pentanol 0.1 -10.0 Ethoxydiglycol 0.25-1 .0 Aqua q.s. to 100 g

Turns out you can avoid precipitation by first dissolving the Sandalore in your solvent of choice. See:

Here is a well written reddit post by someone who seems to have a good understanding of basic chemistry (always italian lol). I might grab a jug of distilled water from the store and use that instead of...
So I think the concentration of the study is 500 micromolar. I added two drops to ~480 mls of water and 2 mls of DMSO for solubility purposes. I think I may dump out some of the solution and go for 1 drop per 500 mls.
DMSO just arrived. It's crystallized (due to the cold I guess) so I'll have to defrost it. Gonna add a drop of sandalore to it and see what happens. Wish me luck boys.
