Any tbought on why my hairline looks like sh*t one day but then perfectly fine others?

Ive noticed while checking my hairline that some days it looks amazing while other days it looks absolutely aweful. How hard should i pull my hair back while checking and is there a reason why my hairline seems inconsistent?
