I took finasteride for a 2 or 3 months, not a lot either (probably 0.5mg EOD on average)

didnt get any brain fog or watery jizz or anything, maybe softer erections, but wasnt sure if that was all in my head. until one morning i had slept with a girl and went to go again in the morning, and my dick was just not up for it.

since then i stopped finasteride completely but have continued to suffer from consistent ED. that was 8-9 months ago. pretty upsetting. I've not got a GF so its been with different girls. but it's been pretty ****ty so i've used some v**** / cialis along the way.

I'd really like to put all this behind me, but i'm not sure it's going away. hopefully when i get back in a relationship regular sex and someone you really trust will help with the stress / pschological factor and help me get to some kind of healthy sex life that doesnt rely heavily on ED drugs

But i'd love to hear from others who might have experienced something similar and came out the other end. was it just time? how much did you feel was in your head? did ED drugs help you get through it or make things worse in long run?

helpful thoughts advice, or contributions appreciated. hopefully i'll be back to normal one day!

thanks

Doesnt sound like finasteride caused this. Maybe you have performance anxiety? Weed? Over weight?

For me when I quit finasteride morning erections became more noticeable right away. My erections also take a lot
longer to go soft. I still say that I didn't have any dysfunction in that department even while on finasteride. But I did notice a slight difference once I quit after 8.5 years of being on it.

I always had a good libido and erections. But a couple of weeks ago, my stress over my hair loss as well as my anxiety/depression had a real impact on me. Psychologically this really impacted my libido and being able to keep an erection. Even hooking up with someone I struggled to get it up. I've been stressing and worrying over it.

I've decided to give finasteride a shot and have been on it the last few days. I've still been struggling with a low libido and to get an erection. However, now that I'm on finasteride I hope it will help me in a way. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of the side effects. But now that I'm treating my hair loss, I hope psychologically and sexually I will improve in both.

Get well wishes to you Jr. and great success with finasteride. Try not to overanalyze your unpleasant predicament. Haha on a positive note now you can use this temporary inconvenience to your advantage and bone up on your foreplay technique(s). GoodLuck!

I definitely hope its performance anxiety. I know that that is part of the issue ...as its now on my mind a lot, but I'd previous not been a worrier about that sort of thing and easily put that kind of thing of my mind and had a good time. Ive had experiences in the last year which rightly or wrongly have made me feel like something is up. I'm fit and healthy and don't smoke weed so not that. My libido is up and down a bit but broadly pretty reasonable. It's just my dick is repeatedly letting me down and feels like something has changed. fingers crossed for some change for the good. Meantime I recon I'm a year away from shaving head. but my ED problem is definitely the bigger source of unhappiness right now :(

Morning erections are the benchmark for biological problem vs psychological problem. If it were me, I would note my morning erections. If they do not appear for a week, then the problem is almost certainly biological. I would then stop the finasteride for a week, and see if the morning erections return.

Are you taking an SSRI drug by any chance? (Prozac/Zoloft,etc)

Lack of morning erections could also be due to: masturbating too frequently or: your are getting nocturnal erections... Just not when you wake up.

One way to test this is to take two stamps connected together, place them on your flacid penis, and then if they appear ripped apart in the morning your are good to go.

THIS. my libido does seem a bit decreased and big emphasis on A BIT. But my willy still seems to be up and ready in the morning.

What do you mean by ED? Do you get morning/nocturnal wood? Can you get it up at all without drugs? Does it get up normally but die down faster than usual?

The first thing you need to do is get your hormones checked. Depending on your symptoms this might be muscular related. Drops in hormones can induce pelvic floor dysfunction, that's what happened to me when I got off finasteride and I'm now starting physio for it. Fortunately it's very treatable and I have a relatively mild case. Lots of the guys on propeciahelp look like they have PFD but don't seem to realize it.

Oh and Yoshi, Fins culpability was confirmed to me by a world class urologist.

This is a very good way to check if you truly have ED. I did the same test, only I had to use four stamps.

finasteride turned my junk into a piece of dead rubber. Took me 6months to recover.

So... i still get morning woods, and i can still get it up generally. but since that first episode i've had multiple mid session deflation experiences. prior to that i'd never had a single episode of loosing a boner at the key moment / not getting it up (even when steaming drunk or whatever).

i also feel like i dont get the level of hard on i used to get pre finasteride. but of course its hard to judge as i know being confident and focusing on being turned are gonna result in better dick performance than the situation i'm in now which is that is on my mind of course. maybe i should go see a Doctor / get hormones checked like you say

i would like to believe its just a cycle that i need to break. i think logically permanent ED from a drug you took months or years ago doesnt seem to make sense does it (chemical still in you body affecting some brain-dick communication months down the line... mmm right?) but as i say, the last 8 months have given me cause enough to worry about it at least, and to never touch finasteride again.

i used v**** on few occasions with generally good results but i dont want to rely on that as a solution for rest of my life (i'm 33) and its ****....pop a pill to sleep with a girl, then in the morning wake up and try and go again only to be let down by the old boy. not fun.

i dont have girlfriend currently so its been more one off stuff, so hopefully when i meet the right girl we'll be able to work through it together.

Try l citurilline instead of viagara in the meantime and get some biofeedback from a pelvic floor therapist. Most Ed problems are PF related and the appropriate therapy has been proven to be as effective as viagara and surgery

As in numb? Providing that you felt/were fine hormonally that could be explained by pelvic floor issues.

Man the skin changed down there, it was cold and lifeless and numb. Nothing worked, even if there was a room full of the sexiest women nothing was going to happen. It look along time to recover, worst thing i've ever experienced in my body.

That's awful, glad you were lucky enough to recover. How was your libido through all of this? We're you still getting horny/attracted to women or was it just your dick?

Always think of women. I'm in a long term relationship though. Not a high libido as i use to have, I crave it..but i'm a little scarred from the experience to be honest, hasn't been the same since.

I certainly understand that sentiment, finasteride left me traumatized. Was the numbness associated with any other symptoms like difficulty urinating?

Also, have you gone for any counseling? I'm sure that and a bit of cialis would do wonders for your psyche. The first time I had sex after finasteride I used cialis but being with a woman really did me good, I was having some trouble staying up before (probably mental) and I haven't had that issue since.

Of course it is the finasteride - anyone who tells you different is full of sh*t. You messed around with your hormones and you've paid the price for that. Simple. It really is such a sad state of affairs when people prioritise vanity over their health - and messing with your hormones can have serious long term effects.

In that scenario you would just have to resort to using your mouth/tongue.
