Which is most effective - Rogaine regular or foam?

Does one cause less facial swelling? Also, does it grow hair that has been gone for over a year in your hairline? Lastly, people say it only lasts so long - does that mean the regrown hair sheds or it just stops regrowing new hair? I am considering adding it to my regime.

Liquid Hands down! Used foam for 15 months along with retin-a besides being convenient (non greasy) and I lost ground been back on liquid for a month now with .5 retin-a daily .. had lots of shedding which I never had before to a point where I almost went back to foam.. but about a week ago the shedding stopped and the new hairs that have grown are DARKER than before they aren't long but they are dark, not vellus hair either. I use BRAND name rogaine now for almost 4 years I used kirkland don't get me wrong kirkland is okay but the name brand is leaps and bounds better and dries MUCH quicker! The good thing is since foam came out.. liquid isn't as expensive in fact only $35 for a 3 month supply on amazon, I'm sure with a coupon and sale from cvs or walgreens you can get it for dirt cheap! On Ebay I see a 6 month supply of name brand for $60 $10 a bottle isn't bad. I actually bought 16 cans of foam 2 months ago that I'm going to sell!

LIQUID all the way!

I am having very good results on the foam. I have been using it for about 4 months only once a day and the new hairs growing on my hairline are beginning to be darker and more easily visible! I tried to take pictures to show you all but the hair doesn't really show up (plus I really have no idea how to do that anyway). I have used both liquid and foam and if you are primarily using it for your hairline I say go with foam, if it is for your vertex then liquid.

The foam is also much easier on my scalp, I remember the liquid really making my head dry out and itch.

Hey nuttyrich - is the name brand Rogaine any less irritating than generic?

I have used both Foam and minoxidil Liquid (10 year minx user here) and would say they both worked equally, the foam winning out on convenience.

I have been using foam for 3 months now once a day at night all over my hairline and middle front and it has grown long peach fuzz all over where my hairline used to be. I havent had hair on my temples for probably 2-3 years now but it seems to be regrowing the hair there. Im still in the early stages but its promising at least. Im also switching to liquid after the foam runs out bc i hear its more effective. I only bought the foam bc it was 4 cans for 45 dollars and i thought i may use it twice daily but that didnt end up happening.

This is what I do.

Foam in the morning. Kirkland at night

why would someone say that Kirkland is not as effecitve as the Rogaine brand?

The faom wins hands down. The one thing though is you need to use more than what they reccomend as nobody with a decent amount of hair could cover their entire scalp with 1/2 capfull. The foam works from crown to hairline. I have new hairs growing in front of my hairline that I have to pluck out one a week.

I use a can of foam every 15 days with INCREDIBLE results.

Is it cheaper to buy in stores or the net?

After reading some of the posts on here, I have stepped up my application amount using the foam. I agree that, unless you have shaved your head down to the skin, there's no way to cover the entire scalp with 1/2 a cap. Using a full cap (if not more) lets me get full coverage I believe w/o my hair soaking up some of the minoxidil goodness.

Has there been anything said about whether Rogaine foam spreads out in the skin like the liquid Rogaine does?
