Transplanting hair from other parts of body to scalp

I have heard that some doctors, using FUE, can transplant hair from one's chest, to the scalp. Is this true? Seems like it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yep, it's true. Not a widespread practice yet, though. Off hand I know that Seager does it.

Isn't the hair on the chest genetically programmed to only grow like a a few cms, and is curly? I guess that would be better than nothing, but I think body hair on the head should be a last resort.

Apparently not. It supposedly grows like other hair on your head, although it takes a little while longer to grow in most cases, from what I understand.
