The horseshoe - non male pattern baldness areas

Hey all..

Just a quick question...I am rapidly losing hair in the front and now in the last few months have started to thin on top (while on Propecia!). However, in the areas that would remain with hair (non-male pattern baldness areas) my hair is thinning as fast, or faster, than the top. Around the ears and the base of the back of the head are really thin as well.

I think people that have male pattern baldness get thinner in the non-male pattern baldness areas, but is it normal to thin in these areas as fast as, or faster, than the male pattern baldness areas?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe Propecia is causing you to shed hair on the sides of your head.

The other possibility is, like you said, that this is just part of male pattern baldness.

In your case, considering the rapidity with which it is happening, I would wager it's the former.

"Used Propecia Aug. 2001 - Nov. 2002 with amazing results. Discontinued due to severe sexual side effects that have yet to abate"

Hair McHair - what symtpoms do you still suffer from after being off of propecia for a couple of years now?

If you're really losing hair in the non-male pattern baldness areas, you might have a condition other than male pattern baldness. If there's one "rule" of male pattern baldness, it's that no one goes beyond the horseshoe to complete loss of hair.

See a physician and ask for a thyroid test.

Oh.. I have that too :( Those areas for me are thinning as well, especially just behind the ears. But the odd thing is, the hairs there are not thin - infact they are extremely thick. So i suspect it is just a shed, and that the hairs will come back in a few months.

When you say thin, do you mean as in density (amount of hairs) or thickness?
