Although I was never officially diagnosed, I know I suffer from Seborrheic Dermatitis. It started about 4 or 5 years ago. When it first started, it wasn't so bad. It was minor and episodic. Fast forward to about 2 years ago, it became chronic.
I need to constantly keep my face shaven and clean, other wise it breaks out. The way I've treated it is simple: When it gets back, I wash it with regular soap and dry it out. It gets flaky and eventually fades (unless I do not keep it clean).
I started using (1% I think) Nizoral 9 days ago and my skin and scalp has improved greatly. I mean, really, really good.
I'm starting to wonder just how much of an impact this condition has had on my thinning hair. Although it my head looked like a snow globe when I combed it and it would be itchy as all hell, I never thought my scalp was as bad as my face with the condition.
I would complain however about the amount of both dandruff AND hair that would be all over pretty much everything I went near (the floor, pillow, where I rest my head to watch TV, etc.). It drove me nuts.
Since I've used Nizoral, I see far less hair loss (I only had about 5-6 hairs in the shower tonight). Hardly any on my pillow.
I've also been using Rogaine for 9 days. I am not experiencing extreme shedding, but the hair I am shedding, seems to be very small and short ones, not long ones.
So I take this is all a good sign? I guess the jist of this thread is asking how much can this condition effect hair loss.
