Rogaine and receding hairlines

I am pretty young and I just started noticing a receding hair line. I want to prevent going bald if at all possible. I am considering using Rogaine but everything I have found says that Rogaine only works on the crown of the head. Should I get it? Will it do anything?

It works everywhere but it is less effective the further frontward you go. Give it a try for 3-6 months and see if it helps

Definitely working for my hairline. Gains are modest, however.
