Has anyone tried using the liquid 3xs a day and got any results from it. I was thinking of bumping it up to that much when i can to see if I get better results. Each application i would use would be about .50 -.75 ml. I just got a 6 month supply for cheap so im willing to experiment with this crap. It seems like the more you use, the more you gain with this stuff so it could be beneficial. If anyone has tried this let me know how it worked.

I think this could be beneficial if you can spread out the application times evenly. The only problem I see is if it would be convenient for you to keep up with this regimen 3 times per day every day!

I used a bottle of rogaine liquid every week a few years back for 5 months and grew more hair then I've ever had in my life. Had to stop because I got wicked sick from it (dizzi spells... wicked tired spells... heart palpatations... poor coordination). Now I do just the normal amount with the foam... the results are not as good and I am now at month 5... but reguardless it works.

if you read to rogaine bottle it says that no additional benifit will be gained by using more then the recommended dosage. I tried it and all i got was more shedding

i think bryan posted awhile back that 4-5 mls a day is max, at that point the scalp is saturated and cant absorb any more minoxidil

3 times a day?? F-uck that! I already find it painfully annoying to apply the foam twice a day. Its a total pain in the arse. It stinks and makes your hair look like s-hit.

3 times a day you may as well go swimming in a pool of Rogaine Foam coz thats how you will smell.

During my ozbrew daze I was doing it 3 - 4 x daily. I think it helped a little at first and then the positive effects waned. Did get me some puffy cheeks though.

I remember while using a ton a rogaine that I went through a crazy shed the first month but after that my hair was growing wicked thick. My temples were down to my eyebrows. I have pictures of it. Here I was at month 3
REGROWTH.jpg

as you can see my forehead was getting hairy and my temples started to extend to my eyebrows.

I'm not sure why people don't have the same "success" (if you would call it that) when using high dosages of rogaine. As for rogaine saying you will have no further benefit... they also say rogaine does not help the frontal or temples regions. I'm pretty sure they just say stuff because they like to hear themselves talk.

What's especially hilarious is that they said the exact same thing even for the old 2% version of Rogaine!! They must think we have really short memories!

I thought he said 2 ml was close to saturation? I could be wrong.

The relevant study is below. I'll have some comments about it afterwards:

Clin Pharmacol Ther. 1989 Apr;45(4): 396-402.
"Absorption of minoxidil after topical application: effect of frequency and site of application." Eller MG, Szpunar GJ, Della-Coletta AA.
Clinical Pharmacy Unit, Upjohn Company, Cincinnati, OH.

The effect of application site and frequency on the systemic absorption of topical minoxidil was studied in 52 normal men. Subjects received 1 ml 3% minoxidil solution applied four, six, or eight times daily to the scalp or two, four, six, or eight times daily to the chest for 14 days. Serum and urine were collected and analyzed for minoxidil. No systemic minoxidil accumulation occurred from increasing application frequency to the scalp. Trends in the chest data suggest that absorption may have been lower with the twice-daily regimen. Absorption through the scalp and chest were similar for the lower-frequency regimens; however, trends in the eight-times-a-day regimens suggest that absorption may have been somewhat greater from application to the scalp. Systemic minoxidil accumulation resulting from frequent application is unlikely. The initial dose probably saturates the skin for a period of time longer than the dosing intervals examined.

Everybody should keep in mind that they used a 3% minoxidil solution for the test, so using a standard, modern 5% solution should be expected to saturate the skin even MORE quickly and easily than what they found in that study. That's why I tend to feel (like Cassin quoted me as saying) that even the normal twice-daily use of standard 5% Rogaine probably comes fairly close to saturating the scalp with about as much as it can hold, and does about as much good for hairgrowth as you can reasonably expect it to do. I think it's WELL within the area of diminishing returns just to use 1 mL twice a day on your scalp, unless you also start doing something risky like spreading a really large quantity over a really large body area outside of the scalp, in addition to what you put on the scalp.

BTW, I also found quite interesting the statement about how trends suggested that absorption through the scalp was "somewhat greater" than through the chest (at least at higher application frequencies). That suggests to me the importance of the transfollicular route of absorption, as opposed to just the absorption through the stratum corneum of the skin and the outer layers of the epidermis. I just LOOOVE the idea of hairloss drugs being absorbed DIRECTLY into hair follicles after topical application! :)

Woah! good regrowth right there. Hey Kiel, did that extra hair (the ones connecting eyebrows to temples) disappear after you reduced your dosage?

Whoa! Kielmck wtf is goin on here man? Did you apply the foam to the hair on the side of your head? I only apply it strickly to the hairline. How can hair grow when ur not directly applying the minoxidil there? Looks like hair is growing out the side of ur head...

I was applying rogaine everywhere on my head... hairline... sideburns... crown..."EVERYwhere" even where there was no balding. I was applying 3-4 times a day to the point where my head was soaked with liquid Rogaine. If anyone has that movie "Failure to Launch" watch the beginning and you'll see me 6 months on rogaine in it and see what my hair looked like. It looked better then I've ever had it. My hands for some reason looked like hell tho... they were getting wicked dry and flakes were all over them.

After I got off Rogaine I lost all that hair in about 2 months and was shedding like crazy. I got on alot of supplements for hairloss which did nothing... and people started commenting that I looked like I was going bald again.

In your opinion, is it superfluous to apply more than 1 ml to the scalp at a time? Say, 2 ml each dose?

Honestly if you wanna get a whole lot of hair and don't care about side affects then do what I did and use about 4 ML each time. you';ll see tons of news hair growth in less then two months

I think it's well within the area of diminishing returns. You'll get _some_ additional benefit, especially if you spread it out over as large an area of your scalp as you can. But I think it's doubtful that you're going to get "twice" the benefit in any intuitive or conceptual sense by using twice the dose.

Hmm Kielmck you have inspired me to start applying the foam not just to my hairline, but to apply it to the lower regions of my hairline on the sides of my head and around the side burns. Infact i started to apply it there last night for the first time. I will take pics to monitor the results. I think it would look kinda weird to grow hair there, but i think if i could grow some hair there the overall effect would infact help me to have the appearence of greater temple closure and lets face it, thats what we all want right? Young movie star hairlines. I know I do :(
