So 31, went for a hair transplant consult. I was told my hair is thinning, which I knew.. but then they told me, the sides around my ears and my nape were whispy, and useless for a transplant. My donor area was limited, not sure how many, but he did say in the future he could possibly do 2000 FUE, which is heartbreaking

He recommended I either start finasteride/Min, however, do these products work? I see a lot of hit and miss, and tbh the side effects of finasteride have me scared ( I know you all hear that everyday ) He says if my current hairloss on top stops, he could potentially strengthen the hairline in the future

He said my crown " isn't too bad " there is hair there, but from then on it is thin

Hi mlc - in my opinion yes they work.

finasteride - i was noticing during showering that i was shedding, this is prior to the medication. maybe 10-15 hairs were in my hands at any one point so i started researching medications that could help. I was surfing the net and came across a Hair transplant center so i went to a consultation. he suggested using finasteride to prevent future hair loss and a transplant to replace what was there. I bought some finasteride off the clinic and started taking it. Within a day or 2 i wasn't shedding anything, even almost a year on, i shed very little. maybe 1-2 hairs every other day. so for me, its worked a treat. with regards to side effects.. yeah i have some, but very minor. the benefits outweighs the negatives and i will continue taking it.

Min - this for me is a wonder treatment. i use the 5% liquid rogain product, 1mm at the night and 1mm in the morning. As a result of this i have seen hairs grow back, maybe 15% of them and they grow back thicker and stronger. the first week my scalp was a little itchy but i battled through it and it cleared after that. i am 5 months in and it has done wonders for the thickness of my hair.

but bearing in mind people respond differently to medications....
