I'm interested in Propecia for the crown (aka vertex) but I know the rogaine commercials are based on the crown too. Can I get the same results that I would get with propecia from rogaine? My biggest concern is that I really do not want to go to a doctor and talk about this. However, if I do man up and confront a doctor, would I likely get a prescription for propecia even if my issue is not just on the crown? I mean I've always had a jagged hairline and I've seen people (women mostly though) with "higher" hairlines than me who have no issues.

Basically in terms of propecia - if I go to a doctor i don't just want the bitter affirmation of "yes there's a problem but I won't write you a prescription, for this reasons." So is a doctor likely to write a prescription for propecia if I have a crown AND hairline issue? I know propecia is to be used on the crown but if you have the problem anywhere else would that be a deal breaker for a doctor. Please help

For starters, just post in one forum next time.

If you don't have serious hair loss than you have no excuse to not go to a Dermatologist first and get it checked out. Don't jump on treatments as if they're miracle pills like they represent them as in the ads. Not everyone sees results on the treatments and others - myself included - go backwards, so if you're not sure if your hair loss is going to continue then don't jump on board just yet. Ever heard of a mature hairline?

My recommendation is to firstly go see a derm to confirm whether or not you have male pattern baldness (male pattern baldness) and not some other another condition causing your hair to fall out. After that, if you do have male pattern baldness then don't worry so much about prescriptions. There are other ways to access finasteride (the active ingredient in Propecia) and minoxidil (Regaine) which are much cheaper and easier for the average person like, I presume yourself, and the rest of us.

Go see a derm first, then come back and ask questions. If you're still too pussy to go see a Dermatologist or even mention it to your GP then post a photo and we'll try to give advice.

Hope this helps.
