My questions (symptoms etc are below).

1. What is my Norwood class, how severe is this now?
2. At the current rate, when will be bald? (say, 6 months?)
3. Are there members here that have taken finasteride without side experiencing side effects?
4. Are there cases where finasteride was discountinued but the hair loss had stopped permanently? Or is it like minoxidil, only with a slower die-out phase?
5. Can minoxidil help with the receding line? finasteride?
6. Any other advise?

Symptoms and objective details:

01. I'm 28. Loss started August this year
02. Prior to that, hair had excellent density and volume, thick strands, no loss
03. Initial loss - about 10 a day
04. Current loss - about 50-60 a day
05. Regrowth is on sides & back, none in the frontal receding line, little on top.
06. Lots of wispy Vellus hairs all over, especially at the receding line.
07. Pull tests: Shampooed: 2 hairs in 10 pulls.
08. Pull tests: No Shampoo for 3 days, oily state: 39in 10 pulls.
09. Additional losses (easily comes off with a gentle pull): Eyebrows, Fingers
10. Classic M pattern emerging: Yes
11. Regime: Biotin 10mg caps daily, Ketoconazole 2% twice a week.
12. Family history: Bald: Maternal Uncle only, no one else.
13. Current stress levels: Severe/Traumatic (personal problems)
14. Sleep: Severely deprived for the last 1 year, average 3~4 hours daily.
15. Diet: no regularity, excessive fatty foods, oily stuff, junk
16. Drinking/Smoking: no.

I'm not knowledgeable to answer all of those questions so i will leave it to someone else -

one thing I would say is that you need to try to keep your stress under control if you are concerned about your hair because i do believe that stress and sleep deprivation can make things worse. I've noticed that stress has coincided with my hair loss and i've read recently about hair surgeons believing it can impact male pattern baldness.

secondly ....how long have you been using the biotin and 2% nizoral for? some people find that nizoral thins the hair even more - i don't know if it has helped my hair at all.

Also....how can you be so sure as to when your hair loss started? your hair doesnt look bad at all to me but it seems like quite a small time for loss to show noticeably. male pattern baldness is supposed to happen over a longer period of time by continued thinner hair cycles.

I can't answer all those questions. But I just wanted to say I've been on finasteride for 3 months with no side effects. A lot of people experience no side effects at all. If anything, my sex drive has actually increased on finasteride. I'd say go on finasteride immediately and analyze your hair in a year. If it's not what you want, or if you haven't maintained your hair, add rogaine to your regimen.

Your NW2 ish, along way off bald infact If I walked past you I wouldn't even know your balding. its not severe so don't chew yourself up about it.
Remember theres a difference to you noticing hairloss and when it acctually started. it could of been slowly goin for several years like i expect mine was. First noticing it can make you think its gone faster then it accutally has.

Not 6 months more likely many years, but its hard to tell without before and after pics.
I was convinced I'd be bald in a year at first, now I'm thinking more logically.

I got ball ache off finasteride and thats all, I heard its a very common side.
My balls have ached before finasteride also so who knows.

I can imagine that people who discontinue finasteride/min and stopped losing hair were not actually going bald in the first place?

Min can work on your hairline, more to regrow it if your lucky, finasteride can regrow and is a must to keep what you have..

Pull test so you got 39 hairs from pulling at how many? if you pulled at 400 total then 39 would be a good 10%. I'm not a pull test expert tho just things i've read. it also has alot of variables and can be inaccurate.

50 a day is normal, i pulled 40 out once when I first noticed my hair loss and nearly had a panic attack! so it can be misleading. right now my hair hasn't really changed at all in 3 months, so i wont be bald in 6.

my eyebrows, arms, legs and even my arse will shed hairs if i pull at them, my leg hair comes out really easy it doesn't mean anything i think.

well these are my thoughts anyway.

Nothing wrong with that hair on a adult male. I'd fairly certain even if you do progress with age you'll never be bald.
