p**rn-Induced Sexual Dysfunction Is a Growing Problem

A growing number of young, healthy Internet pornography users are complaining of delayed ejaculation, inability to be turned on by real partners, and sluggish erections.

Lots of guys, 20s or so, can't get it up anymore with a real girl, and they all relate having a serious p**rn/masturbation habit. Guys will never openly discuss this with friends or co-workers, for fear of getting laughed out of town. But when someone tells their story on a health forum, and there are 50-100 replies from other guys who struggle with the same thing. This is for real.

Threads relating to this issue are springing up all over the Web on bodybuilding, medical help, and pick-up artist forums, in at least twenty countries. Notice from one such forum:

Due to the overwhelming emails and requests we have received concerning pornography addiction and erectile dysfunction, we decided to create an entirely different thread. ED due to p**rn is becoming rapidly common, especially for young men.

Desperate young men from various cultures, with different levels of education, religiosity, attitudes, values, diets, marijuana use, and personalities are seeking help. They have only two things in common: heavy use of today's Internet p**rn and increasing need for more extreme material.

Many have previously been to doctors, undergone various tests, and been declared "just fine" physically. Neither they nor their health care providers considered excessive p**rn use as a potential cause of their continued performance problems. Most were assured that "masturbation cannot cause erectile dysfunction." (Probably true, but unfortunately Internet p**rn use can.) The final diagnosis was generally "performance anxiety." Desperate, many also looked online. See this 900-post thread and this 300-post one.

Is anxiety really the cause? Here's a simple test: Try to masturbate (alone) using no p**rn and no fantasy—only sensual touch. Use the same speed and pressure as you would during intercourse. How erect is your penis without p**rn? If your penis is not fully erect, or it takes effort to become erect, then the chances are that anxiety is not the source of your problems. Persistent performance problems can certainly lead to anxiety, however. As one man said after he recovered following three months without masturbation or p**rn,

It's hard to tell where addiction ends and anxiety begins. I think a combination of the two is involved in a lot of situations.

Not long ago, Italian urologists confirmed an erectile dysfunction-p**rn use connection via a large survey. When interviewed about the survey, urologist Carlo Foresta (head of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine and professor at the University of Padua) mentioned that 70 percent of the young men his clinic treated for sexual performance problems had been using Internet pornography heavily.

For them, recovery appears to take 6-12 weeks, and rests primarily on one factor: avoiding the extreme stimulation of Internet erotica. (Many also avoid masturbation for a time, either because at first they cannot masturbate without p**rn fantasy, or because climax triggers binging.)

Among those who recover, progression is surprisingly similar. Men typically report that after a few days of intense sexual cravings, their libido plummets and their penis seems "lifeless," "shrunken," or "cold." These "flatline" symptoms typically continue for up to six weeks on average, dependent upon age and intensity of p**rn use.

Gradually, morning erections return, followed by libido and, perhaps, occasional spontaneous erections. Finally, there is complete recovery of erectile health, sexual desire for real partners, sex becomes extremely pleasurable, and condom use is no longer problematic.

I am a 25-year old male, masturbating a lot from 13 and using p**rn from 14. Gradually, it took more to turn me on: bigger fantasies or harder p**rn, and I stopped getting hard without touching. During sex I would struggle to get an erection or keep it, especially for intercourse. Over the past 7 years I haven't held down a relationship, and the main reason for me has been this problem. Now the good news: When I realized the cause, I immediately gave up p**rn. Over the last 6 weeks I held off masturbating as much as I possibly could. (My best record was 9 days!) It all paid off. I just went away with a girl for the weekend and it was the best ever. I don't think I'm out of the woods yet. I still get pretty anxious from all the bad experiences over the years. But I just wanted to tell you all it can work, and it's well worth it!
Week 12, age 36 - I'm actually totally impressed how HUGE I get. It has been kinda hard to ignore. I mean, my erections are ROCK HARD and ENORMOUS. I remember asking other guys who went before me about when they noticed the return of their full erections. Well, I think I got mine back

for the rest

I've gone the other way.

Although a long term p**rn watcher, lately I've begun to find most of the women in p**rn a genuine turn off. I don't know if it's always just been this way with p**rn or I'm getting bored or the industry's standards are slipping but the women are looking more used and abused, lacking in decorum (and usually dignity), dress like total trash, have the IQ of a glass of water, exude desperation and usually wear an aggressive f*ck face. Not exactly a turn on.

I always drift off and start thinking about their tacky lifestyles outside of p**rn (read their twitter feeds for some idea). There is some classier stuff out there but most of it's a seedy snapshot of everything that's wrong with a lot of modern day women.

Real women (with standards) are far more attractive.

Sorry but the notion of you sat there browsing patiently with a ready stonker but getting sniffy at the general lack of decorum just got to me!

And p**rn industry standards?!? please tell me that notion was ironic

The p**rn world is moving on without you Aussie, why dont you get yourself some nice 'soft' p**rn, a warm cup of cocoa and a hot water bottle grandad!!

Me, I like it hard and rough. I crack it out to foul abuse

'THE ACE OF SPADES - THE ACE OF SPADES' BOW NOW NOW NOW NOW - BOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!
:band:

You cant argue with noise and progress!! THEY LOVE IT!

Im hoping the satire there is obvious enough. No accusations of misogyny please!

HAHA

Your like the Moses of p**rn, passing down the p**rn commandments!! Thou shalt not be bukkakied!!

I find your newly assumed position as moral arbiter of p**rn ettiquette amusing considering your mental degredation of women! This is fine, but not actual degredation!

nobody is saying that you and other supposed lovers of women shouldn't be able to watch one being jizzed on by 20 different guys at once

I have no idea what favors you think you're doing womankind by dismissing criticism of their appalling behaviour as 'degredation'. :dunno:

Haha, you see the thing is I actually agree with you when it comes to this, Im proper old fashioned, I just find the stance amusing coming from you because of your unusual slant on women but I think I understand you now...

If women dont want you, which as you have hinted before they dont seem to, then sexually liberated women must be incredibly intimidating to you! Your just a sweetie pie really aintcha?! Youve just formed a pathological misogyny because no one will snuggle with you.

Hot or Cold?!!

a woman who offers herself up as public urinal for a group of wank-happy men, on camera, simply so she can live a lifestyle filled with consumerist trashy trinkets is 'liberated'?

I'm a big boy so I don't need cuddles :)

'Misogyny' is merely a term used by feminists (and regurgitated by manginas) and applied to men who refuse to recognize female supremacy.

As a mangina-in-denial I understand that you need to rationalize your defence of the indefensible so your amateur psychiatry routine (as deflection) was to be expected.

And I mean that in the nicest way possible :)

If it makes her happy, yes. Some people are into bizarre things. I knew this one girl...gorgeous... we were dating and she told me one fetish she had was every few months she would go to a bar/club and screw a complete stranger. It was the "wrongness" that got her off.

Our relationship ended pretty fast after that btw.

Those once monthly stranger screwing excursions not what you were looking in a life partner then Cassin?!!

You misunderstand my definition of liberated. To be liberated is free, just like this woman in question's knickers are. Its not for us to judge whether or not she should give herself up for a new telly. Aussie Im with you an over experienced woman wouldnt be my first choice but I sure dont feel threatened by it. Im simply saying, if a girl is prepared to shop around, then she knows the market, she'll go for a steak, whereas you want a woman who will settle for a meal at wimpy. You want to keep the woman in the dark to protect your rod which is lacking.

Mangina is merely a term used by virgins for men who get laid!!

Once it becomes all about money then I think it crosses the line from fantasy/sexual fetish into something far more depraved.

that's just.........weird.

If I'm the one suggesting that a woman might aspire to something greater than doing really gross sh*t purely to finance a certain lifestyle or obtain fame then which one of us is keeping them in the dark?

Totally out of context. Im not talking about p**rn ladies here, im talking about the reason your a misogynist, if a woman has had many lovers thats a threat to you cos you know you wont measure up!! Thats why you want to control them, you know if left to their own accord they roam from you

I find the bigger a sl*t they are the less I care about my prowess. Its the little sweeties I find a bit intimidating.

And lo, it was known as Montys Paradox!

In my experience its the quiet ones you want to watch out for! Ive been scared off a couple of times as you think you have a shy retiring type then they do a sex transformer from a nice homely little autobot, into BAM a filthy little decepticon!! Like a sexual trojan horse.

The young teenagers of the world don't know how good they have it with p**rn. Top quality, awesome, free p**rn is just the click of a button away on the computer - you just type in "Huge tits c*m face donkey teenager milf huge c*** doggy a*** rape awesome Peter North" into the search bar of a p**rn site, and watch the magic take place. When I started out, it was either magazines, borrowing VHS tapes from friends, or going to the Spice Channel and watching scrambled grayed-out p**rn with no sound at the hopes of maybe seeing a boob, which was likely a knee - and I was grateful for that!

That's probably not the intent of this thread, though, now is it?

I once got given a stash of around 30 VHS tapes that I had stored under the bed throughout my teenage years! All it would have taken would have been an over zealous hoovering from mum to have been rumbled as the perv of the house, every day on the edge, thats how i roll.
