Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what I should do?

I suffer from diffuse thinning on the top of my head. I noticed it around 3 years ago but wasn't sure what to do about it. Around 18 months ago, after reading up all the options I had I started using propecia and nizoral shampoo. I have been using it since. After a few months I noticed that the rate at which my hair was falling out in the shower etc reduced drastically. It helped because my hair did feel thicker, and my confidence improved drastically. But over the past few months my hair has started thinning again and feeling very dry. I have always been wary about using minoxidil due to the worry of losing even more hair because of it. Do you think its time for me to start? And if so, any advice on how much I should use?

Thanks,

M

If your on propecia just keep using it there isnt much else you can do. Might be a shed or something and just grow back. I dont think minoxidil is a big deal if your on propecia already

Starting Minoxidil may incorporate a shed, though hair loss should stabilize and regrowth should come in. Minoxidil just doesn't promote hair growth but also plays a role in maintenance, the thing to largely keep in mind though is once you start you really can't stop. I'm on a maintenance regimen with Dutasteride and RU58841, but if I stop Minoxidil, I'll start losing hair again since the medication keeps healthy functions of Androgenetic Alopecia impaired hair follicles active and also helps keep them alive. To this date, the mechinisim(s) of how Minoxidil treats Androgenetic Alopecia and promotes hair growth is not yet fully understood, but science has proven that the medication helps to promote hair at growing thicker, longer, and stronger, and also helps to keep hair from falling out so easily.

It's recommended to use Minoxidil twice day, though using it once daily is still quite effective and plenty of benefits will come with that dosage. Other than that, don't stop Propecia, the treatment has obviously been helping maintain your hair m91.
