Zix will compliment minoxidil--either oral or topical--but you must continue to use minoxidil to maintain any benefit you get from it.
Yeah i dont ever plan on discontinuing minoxidil. I have no side effects from it. Hopefully i start to see some new regrowth soon.

Maybe bring the ingredients, and then mix some up when you get there?

Another q, does anyone have any experience with using Fluridil? Just found out about it and want to hear some stories if anyone has any to share. Seems very interesting as an adjunct treatment with zix.

Technically, You don't since 1% Zinc Pyrithione alone has been proven to promote hair growth when used daily. I've also come across anecdotes of people reversing/stopping hair loss after after taking oral zinc, but I've also read many anecdotes of people shedding faster after taking zinc.
I stopped using zix because I got tired of the preparation process but I'll get back on now and combine with Zinc pyrithione shampoo usage for cumulative DHT effect, In my experience both zix and this shampoo have reduced inflammation.

Anyone still dermarolling? I see so many conflicting reports/studies these days about the best needle length and frequency etc. If you are, what's your protocol?

It doesn’t work. Only time it “works” is if you are a topical minoxidil nonresponder. Which, you might as well just take oral at that point. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time.

I guess my question should then be for people who have noticed minoxidil working BETTER after dermarolling.

On and off partly for those reasons. I saw a study which said 0.6mm was most effective but most people on forums use 1.5mm.

Not entirely sure why it works but considering just using a manual roller/stamp in the shower regularly just to aid absorption of topicals rather than hammering my scalp with an electric pen once a week or whatever.

There are so many different types of zinc out there. Is Zinc sulfate the only recommended Zinc for the formula or can you use the other types like picolinate

Over the years, I have read zinc sulphate was most effective. Best to just stick with that.

Hi I know this has been mentioned earlier in the thread but has anyone any experience (good or bad) with the Heath Aid brand of zinc sulphate? It seems to be all we can get in the UK and the pluspharma brand doesnt seem to be available anywhere.

There are sellers on ebay selling bags of zinc sulphate heptahydrate but these come with a corrosive product warning so not sure about sticking that on my head!

Thanks!

Just an update, I've still using the head and shoulders zinc pyrithione shampoo and a few weeks ago I've decided to include nizoral into the mix. Both have evidence evidence to support an 5 alpha reductase inhibitory effect. It's too early in the game to tell, but i wonder if they'll have a combined effect equivalent to topical finasteride. I also wonder if i can augment things by adding zix to the mix, I've been very lazy about making another batch tho. Both zix and the shampoo are zinc based so would it be redundant to use one or the other?
