Hi everyone, lurking the site for about 2 months only started posting now and just wanted to make a thread about my situation with hair loss!

I am 19 (20 in 6 months) and after a shorter hair cut that usual about 2 months ago that my hair was starting to look different at the sides of my hairline my hair was thinned out at the sides of my hairline and I am almost certain my hairline has receded, it has receded more at one side than the other and I have read that that's common.

My main cause of concern and what freaked me out straight away was the fact that my brother who is 22, starting losing hair around 1.5-2 years ago and is now about an NW3. And of course I also thought of my dad who starting losing his hair at around 20 and was NW5 by the time he was 28 and still has the same hair as he did at 28 and he's now 54. My dad's brothers all went bald but they started later except for his twin who started at the same time. My mother is an only child so I don't have any uncles to go off there but my grandfather on my mothers side had a solid NW2 at 70!

What I want to do is treat it now so it doesn't rapidly get worse, what I have decided on is getting Setipiprant and would love to know if there are any more group buys going on! I also would like to add Nizoral and maybe RU or RU Myristate (can't get much info on RU myristate so I don't know if it's good or not). And no, I really don't want to take Finasteride because of minor gyno and past anxiety issues which I know they contribute to. I know I'm going to get some stick for saying I don't want to take Finasteride but there you have it.

Also, I'll just add that I was never a nw1 I have always had a high enough hairline but I believe this is past a high hairline and the begginning of male pattern baldness!

I took some photos a few days ago with wet hair sorry if the photos aren't good. All comments/information are much appreciated :)

You look to be a Norwood 2 with a widows peak. I'd love to have your hairline, dude. Understandably, you're worried, but right now I wouldn't say you've got too much to worry about. Take pictures (with good lighting) every few months to document any changes and file them on your computer by date. Once you hit 21, you could probably finagle your way into a finasteride prescription if you so choose in an effort to get ahead of the rising tide. Best of luck to you

You're a thick Norwood 2, or some may call it Norwood 1 with a mature hairline.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd wait and see how it's evolving. Some treatments are on their way to the market and by the time you're 25 your hair may not have changed much, if at all.

Minoxidil is a hassle to apply twice a day, and if you stop it, you lose all your gains in a few months.

Finasteride I think is better because unlike minoxidil it fights the main cause of male pattern baldness. It can maintain your hair for decades, but it is, well, controversed. That being said a lot of people don't feel any sides with it and I see no harm in trying.

The point is, there aren't much treatments that work and you can get legally right now, and they are far from perfect, so you have to be sure before you take the plunge. And with your hair, I would't take the plunge -right now-.

Setipiprant is currently being tried by some guys here, myself included, if it works you'll know in a few months. If it works A LOT it will be out on the market in a few years. And I think you've got a few years, more than a few actually.

I really hope I do have the same hair at 25 because if my dad is anything to go by I'll be NW4! Yeah if it comes to it I might try finasteride and see how it goes. That's great, thanks for being one of the people that are trying it now I commend you. Thanks for all your advice I really appreciate it!
