I've been taking 1/4 tabs of Proscar for about 4 months now.

Initially I thought that I was having no sides from it however of late they have started to pop up.

Normally (unless I'm not excercising at all) I stick pretty much around the 83-84 KG mark.

Of late and whilst exercising I have now jumped up to 90kgs and no it's not muscle from weights... it's a good load of fat (I just need to look at my growing double chin for affirmation of this).

Well as soon as I hit the 90 kg mark I stepped up my training program to go to the gym 3 times a week and go to footy training twice a week with a game on Sat as well.

I've dropped 2kgs but am finding it much more difficult that normal to get back to my normal weight (ie the weight I've normally been for the last 5 years - 83-84kgs).

Anyway - I've also noticed on the weekend whilst playing footy that I'm not as aggressive as I normally would be, my strength at the gym seems to be somewhat declining, when we lost a game I got quite depressed and ALMOST cried!!! (never EVER done this before).
And at training last night my nipples had a dull ache behind them....
Hard to tell if they're growing as I have big nips for a bloke anyway.

My question is.... should I ride this out for a while and continue on proscar or should I go see the Doctor for a bit of a check up and re-evaluate?
or
Should I drop taking the 1/4 tabs every day and say only take them 4-5 days out of 7? I was thinking as this weekend we 'll be having one of the most physical games of footy coming up that I'd stop taking the tabs for the rest of the week as I don't want to go into a tough game of footy running around like a depressed pussy and then feel like bloody crying if we lose!!

any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

oh and just a bit further to this.....
My libido has also been down somewhat, and I have noticed that if I take proscar at dinner time, come bed time "lovin time" the old fella doesn't get quite as hard as normal....

Stick with it and see how it goes, also go to Doctor and explain your situation and see what he thinks about it

I dont think the propecia is making you a pussy, it could seriously all be in your head. Just go hard! and see how things go, think positive
Hope this helped in some way

Try taking the pill first thing in the morning on a empty stomach. I take mine at 7 am everymorning. By the evening you should be ready for sex.

I also gained about 20 lbs from propecia.. also a good load of fat like you have said.

Does that fat ever go away?

I'm a skinny guy, the fat i've gained through it is like a blessing :D

*edit* And just to add to my post. I've gained about a stone in weight and my ads seem more flabby. Before taking propecia, I just basically had a very flat chest. However at the same time as beginning propecia, I began working out.

Should I just take it that my upper body is gaining weight and its not gyno developing? I don't want to stop taking propecia when its weight gain making me a bit more flabby and not gyno. Just been skinny all my life so for me its hard to tell.

1750, what about your results?

have you had any results on Propecia?

I have been on it for 3 months, and not only i had no results, but my problem got worse, lost more hair than ever.

I think attacking DHT in my body is making my hair fall more than ever. Crazy.

I agree with Goingat20. Nice avatar by the way.

I kinda copied your avatar to be completely honest.....

Thanks Hawaiimale - normally I do take imy meds in the morning.... it's only (on the rare) occasion whereby I have taken them in the eveneing that I've noticed the prob. Although I have in general noticed my libido dropping and a diff in the consistency of the old swimmers.

as far as results are concerned it's tough to tell....
I've gone on and off hair regimes since I was 20 (7 years now).
It previsouly mainly consisted of using minoxidil and saw palemetto tablets and I always had relative success in regrowing "some" of my hair back (mainly the hair I'd lost - never my hairline though). Nothing now though seems to be working at all and my entire head is thinning now........

This is my first real crack at proscar (finasteride) combined with minoxidil.
In the last 4 months my hair has really done nothing but shed and is in it's worst ever condition at the moment (although that might also be because I have given myself a complete buzz cut and it is now very, very obvious that my hair is thinning and there's an island drifting away from the mainland).
In the last 3 weeks I thought that my shedding had completely subsided, but then it came back with a vengence after a regular wash of my hair and has continued to do so the last 2 weeks.

In the last month I've taken a load of pics of my head, however, due to the camera flash or lighting it makes it difficult to see how bad my hair is, as, in some pics it looks crap and then others it looks absolutely @#%ing horrendous.

I do know for a fact that finasteride is giving me some serious mood swings (my family, girlfriend and mates have all said in the last month that I haven't been myself and have seemed really down)........

I'm gonna try stick with it for a year though (unless advised otherwise by the Doctor and then re-evaluate my hair growth / decline).
Otherwise I'll be moving over to more herbal DHT inhibitors and looking more at the hair regime "immortalhair" is using.

I'd post all the pics I have but have absolutely NFI how to do it.

pics

ok - here's my pics -
when my hair was long
after and even during when I gave myself a buzz cut
and now as it's growing out of the buzz cut.

The light / flash (sun light vs flash) definitely plays a part in how good/bad things look...ie pic http://i3.tinypic.com/xkyr88.jpg vs http://i3.tinypic.com/xkyt7c.jpg .
Note that all these pics have been taken within 3 weeks (last 3 weeks) of each other and therefore there has been no improment or regrowth, simply my hair growing back from "super short" to "not quite so short".

The real tester will be when I buzz cut my head 4 months from now to do the comparison and see if things have thickened up.

haven't gone to the Doctor yet as I just haven't had the time - but my tits are DEFINITELY getting bigger!!!

Are there any natural anti-eostrogens I can take to help stop the growth of my nipples as I don't want to really go off finasteride and stop my chances of growing back my hair and I don't want to shove any other chemicals into my system......

any help would be much appreciated

thanks a heap for the heads up aplunk -

I'm on the case - for the moment I'm going to stop using finasteride to see if my chest goes back to normal (and until I can get into the Doctor).....

You need to get you hormone levels checked. Google "saliva hormone testing". You should probably check DHEA, pregnenolone, progesterone, androstenedione, and of course androgens and estrogens. Maybe check LH and FSH too, if you can.

Soy isoflavones seem to have some anti-aromatase action, which could help but may make your sides worse because it may lower T and DHT, as well as E2.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aromatase

try googling "aromatase inhibitor"
