I have been using castor oil and coconut oil on the hairline I've read good reviews online I hope that helps was thinking of taking propecia but im so worried about the side effects of getting fat that's the side effect that I'm most worried about

I given 5 mg finasteride and cut it into 4 for my hair loss by my doctor but I'm so worried to take them

Finasteride doesn't make you fat. Side effects you could possibly get are sexual related sides and possibly brain fog and depression. I highly recommend finasteride if you want to keep your hair.

Doctor talked me out of it and said I would grow man boobs and said younger men should not take it only when you get older

1. You have caught male pattern baldness at a pretty early stage. It's likely that you can regrow some or at least maintain with Propecia.
2. No normal person would think you are balding at this point
3. I would recommend cutting your hair much shorter. Longer hair makes any thin-ness and cowlicks look much worse
4. You are statistically extremely unlikely to have any Propecia side effects. Arguing against this is fighting science and basic math
5. If you are in the extremely low % of people who get sides, just stop taking it
6. Just start taking the pill, don't freak out when you shed, appreciate your awesome hair in 3-4 months and live your life

How old are you? I can give you my experiences. And link you to some very good success stories. Everyone responds differently.

As the above poster stated, your hair isn't that bad yet. Your crown looks very good. You have good density all over. Your hairline is taking a hit though. There is miniaturization and thinning. Probably doesn't look great under light, but you still caught it fairly early.

You're so right I've been so depressed about losing my hair my hair is my favorite thing about me

Yeah your hair is better than mine....unfortunately I didn't respond too well.

Really don't understand why finasteride doesn't work very well for some people. Would think it would have to do with how aggressive the loss is, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Also doesn't seem to matter if you start it early if you're a poor responder.

I think your crown is okay, but your hair line is starting to take a hit. Hair line still looks great; you're like a Norwood 2ish (some might even say 1.5). Get on finasteride to maintain and thicken.
