Is Avodart .5m every third day useless?

Can I take dutasteride .5mg every third day and still get results? I know that the drug has a long half life.

No, it's not useless. There was a study showing that 0.5mg of dutasteride once a week + 1mg of finasteride every day gives better results than just 1mg finasteride every day.

yes, but that is with 1 mg of finasteride everyday. I am just taking the avodart about 3 times a week.

shadow, stop misinforming people. Avodart doesn't have strong side effects, it can CAUSE strong side effects. There's a big difference between two statements. And there's no guarantee that it will grow you more hair, but it will slow down your balding process for sure.

at this point i may as well shave my head. ill keep going with the .5 mg every third day and just keep my fingers crossed. i think i should regrow some hair bc the majority of my loss has been recent.

I'm 17 weeks taking 1 dutasteride per week with daily finasteride. So far no noticeable sides or regrowth (maybe some shed bit may be normal loss). This is after 12 years on finasteride and minoxidil.

After 18 weeks of 1 dutasteride per week with finasteride everyday (finasteride for 13 years now - hair not holding well), no sides or improvment I notice. Thus I just bumped it up to twice dutasteride per week tue/sat with finasteride daily. Will see how this works. I don't plan to bump again to at least a year.

Update is twice a week dutasteride with finasteride daily getting testicle pain. 19 weeks into dutasteride once a week. Only after starting the twice a week last week with finasteride daily now the pain has come. No thickening yet.

i have yet to experience any side effects yet. my right chest/pec area will have slight pain from time to time starting on tuesday but today seems to be fine. i also am a group fitness instructor so it could be something i did at work. maybe its bc you are on two drugs? maybe try going back to once a week? or wait it out?

Testicular pain subsided today after 3 days. Tomorrow is my 2nd of week dutasteride pill. I may try to take it only by itself and not with the finasteride which probably does not help. Hope not to get the pain again otherwise it may be back to once per week.

Do you take the finasteride daily? If so maybe try lowering it to every other day?

Yes, take finasteride everyday, but not today with finasteride. Took the dutasteride today not too bad feeling....just some light sensation in testicles. May skip tuesdays dosage of dutasteride and wait till next sat. dutasteride is definately strong stuff!

Would be so cool to actually start growing some hair with this new regime! Approaching 5 months now.

13 years now on finasteride. Can't do twice a week dutasteride with finasteride. Took my sat dose of dutasteride and bad testicular and semen glands pain. What the hell is going on? Like a bad case of blue balls. Is the body going nuts with the added testosterone running around? This confirms cant do 2X per week. Hope can go back on once per week. Need this to discipate out quick. Today and now painful.
