I'd rather have a thick, defined norwood 2-3 then a norwood 1...am I crazy?

Something about the curved, intense widows-peak shape of a norwood 2 or even 3 hairline just seems more distinctive and mature to me. Plus, if the hair itself is thick and full you have plenty of style choices, and it's very unlikely the average person would even identify you as balding.

Anyone else agree, or am I nutso?

I see your point but I wouldn't because I have long hair. That look suits short hair better.

I use to disagree with this point of view (back when I had REALLY thick hair but starting to recede. Now as my hair volume as thinned out A LOT in the last year (hell, the last few months) I agree with you AoR. Density is a far better feature to have!

That's true, although I've seen some guys pull off longish styles by combing the hair over one side. It really depends on the shape of your head and exact shape of the hairline though.

For some guys that does work well, you're right. It used to on me but really doesn't anymore. I just go old school 70s and part down the middle or push my bangs past my ears.

Depends on the forehead size, on a small forehead a nw2/3 looks classy and distinguished, if you slick it back, however if you try to attempt the same thing with a massive forehead, it will look off and slightly out of proportion.

This is the problem I have, I would give up some density if I could have back my 19 yo perfect nw1.5-2,what good is all this density at the back, if there is no hair or proportion at the front?

look at this guy utilizing the receding hair line + long hair side part style.

lead singer from the used does the same thing, so do i, except my hair is quite shorter, only like 15-20 cm long.

it's not that bad, untill all of the frontal hair has thinned out which inevitably is destined to happen sooner or later. :/

check this guy: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0607375/mediaindex. i think he has nice hair styles. he's in nw2.5, maybe 3 but has a thick hair.
for me, the most annoying thing is having those triangles, i always want to hide them. this guy is doing it right i think. hmm and have a look at Avicii's hair: http://thumbs.eska.pl/common/7/6/s/766884TOeg.jpg/ru-0-r-640,0-n-766884TOeg_avicii.jpg. He's 24 years old, and receding.

and a similar one: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0634240/mediaindex. Chris Nolan is definitely an NW3.

That first guy's hair looks a lot like mine, but a tad thicker.

Nolan is a good example, although he may be on the more extreme end. I don't have a picture, but Heath Ledger's hair as the Joker in TDK is a good example of a thickish NW3 that looks pretty good/stylish long.

I think Heath was diffuse though. Im pretty sure if he were alive he would have been bald by now.

Call me crazy but I think Jude Law looks cool balding.

Noone looks better balding, jude law looks cool because his facial features are cool, he still looks way better with hair

And i agree with topic creator, if i had a widows peak with thick hair id take it over nw1 and rubbish hair

No one said he looks better. Just said he looked cool balding.

I forgot to mention Justin Theroux....that guy definitely has the most fashionable NW3 I've ever seen...not sure how's managed to maintain it all these years...

Hah! Funny you should say that. I was watching the film American Psycho last night (surprise! surprise! lol) and thought exactly the same thing! I like his slick back nw2/3 in that film. He's done a fantastic job maintaining that hairline all these years since that film was made, surely gotta be on finasteride.

Justin Theroux, is a great example of NW3 and looking great! It really suits, him, and even in Your Highness, his wig has that same hairline. Terrible film by the way! I suspect he may be on finasteride, as he doesn't seem to have lost any since American Psycho.

Some people stay with the same Norwood for decades like my dad for example, then at +50 the crown starts thinning, very common thing.

I'm like a Norwood 3 with deeply receded temples but I still get compliments about my hair. It sucked in High School because I was like the only kid with a receding hairline but I'm kinda used to it now that I'm nearly 28. I've been on min and nizoral for 5 years. Dreading having to start finasteride.
