How well does rogain work on the front and sides?

I have been using proscar then finasteride and finally dutas for about 4 years now.

I used proscar for a year then switched to finasteride and finally about a year ago went to Dutas.

I have noticed no noticeable difference in the pace of my shedding...

I would say I am at NW2-2.5.

I just bought rogaine but since it says it works only on the vertex I want to know how effective it would be on the front area and sides?

Don't be fooled by those silly things the FDA forces them to say! Rogaine works anywhere it's applied, although not as well at the front (which is true for _all_ male pattern baldness treatments, not just Rogaine). They force the manufacturers to say that, just because it wasn't officially tested at the front. Should work on the sides, too.

Thanks. Yeah I was on proscar and got tired of cutting pills so I figured that after a year of using "lowering the dosage"to one (whatever the measurment is,lol) was ok. After finasteride I went to dutas (from inhouse, actually all wherre from inhouse) like I said I noticed no noticeable difference with the hair loss prior to starting on proscar...

So you started taking Propecia instead of Proscar, just because you got tired of cutting the pills?? I'd have to be AWFULLY rich, before I'd consider doing that! :)

Hi, I am kinda new here, but while I was reading this I just wanted to comment.

A friend of mine is like NW3 or maybe even NW4, he was loosing lots of frontal hair and vertex was already bald. As the frontal area was just thin and not bald, it seems Rogaine is giving him better results on the frontal area. Anyway, it is still too early to take any conclusions as he has started like 2 months ago. When comparing pictures, we can clearly see improvements in the frontal area only. Vertex just looks like the same....

As I am NW2,5 myself and seeing rogaine is also giving results on the frontal area, I will start with rogaine myself too.

seems to be different for everyone. minoxidil hasn't worked on my front and sides at all, but then finasteride hasn't helped much there either. for the really good responders however it seems to work everywhere...

in my front area, isn't bald but its id say half thinned out, maybe not quite that much but ...,

using the big 3 i noticed hairs right at the hairline that were thin shed, and now 7 months later those same hairs are as long as my other hair and way more full.
so something worked on the front.
