How the studios are going to handle a bald Superman...

So I've been wondering this for a while because I think it's kind of a big issue for the bald(ing) community. After watching the new Batman v Superman trailers I have noticed just a minor thing.... Henry Cavill's receding hairline!

Why is this a big deal? Well, the guy is probably considered a sex symbol by many and if Man Of Steel put the actor in the spotlight this new movie will double that. So what we have is a recognizable actor playing no one else but Superman himself, and now he's balding. See where I am going here?

Now, the actor's recession is going FAST. If you noticed from his last films his thinning is really catching up to him. It probably doesn't help the guy doing all those intensive workouts and such. I mean, look at him in his youthful days...

He pretty much had a perfect hairline. But now the tables are turned, our superhero is going bald.

At this point, anyone can detect his receded hairline. But now I wonder how is the studio going to handle this? There's not even a version in the comic books where Superman is bald. It's just something we've never seen before.

I beg your pardon there IS a brief moment where Superman is bald. There's an issue where Lex Luthor manages to burn the hero and his hair burns too.

But Sups recovers from this very quickly and he recovers his powers, as well as his hair. They even had to put Louise Lane making condescending remarks to Sups and even recommends him to wear a Fedora!

With this in mind, I doubt we'll ever have a ****ing break and get a bald version of Superman. Being bald is so BAD to the general public, that they can change ethnicity and sex to our favorite characters yet dare to make them bald... and bam! You'll get Loki's treatment from Avengers and get a retouch of the hairline.

Loki's receding hairline in Avengers...

Hairline magically disappears in Thor 2!!!

Is insulting and humiliating to see how going bald is looked as such a bad thing. Like it will ruin a character or a performance... So far, Cavill's hair "issue" seems to be mute. Nothing has happened, but we all see how these things turn out and I am curious as to what Zack Snyder who is moving the franchise will handle Sups going bald.

End rant.

Christopher Reeves wore a toupe.

Sean Connery wore one when he played James Bond, apparently.

Didn't Sean Connery always wore the toupee when playing James Bond? I think he never showed his recession when he was in character.

They're letting Cavill show off his receding hairline and the studio is, until now, acting as if nothing is happening. This is Superman we're talking about he is supposed to be a 10/10 hairline yet it isn't the case. I wonder how much more they'll let them recede until they decide to do something.

Make your damn post shorter

Don't read, simple.

Yeah, the site updates recent posts if you didn't know. And no, I'm not being sarcastic. I followed your advice, I didn't read your post. Make it shorter though for others. Thanks.

Eh, if anyone is remotely interested in what I'm saying they'll read regardless if I wrote 1 or 10 pages. If not, they won't just as you did. I just needed a place to put this out there lol, I don't expect people to care.

Anyways...

I don't think it's an issue. They spend hundreds of millions of dollars on these movies. Soon, Cavill will either wear a hairpiece, get the best hair transplant money can buy, or start using more medications or minoxidil.

I'm surprised they've let him bald this much. I think we can take this as evidence that a lot of people don't notice NW2.

I have very similair hair to him though I'm thinning more, especially my hairline on one side.

What would call this? Norwood 2.75?

I agree, maybe more people are oblivious to NW2 than we would have thought.

No clue. And now that I compared my pictures to Henry Cavill I seem to be on the same boat too.

I always thought mine was a 2.5 Norwood. Been on Propecia for over a year now.

He I'll either do something about it or digital effects will solve the problem. The guy needs to sort it out for his own sake, it could seriously damage his career. If he's smart he might get on finasteride or get a hair transplant.

What is it with people misjudging their Norwoods and then posting up a ****ty pic to try and justify it? I swear on this forum NW2=any recession whatsoever even if it is less than an inch but the gap between NW2-4 is like 10 inches. ****in learn your Norwood scales you idiots.

Henry Cavill had such a low hairline to begin with. He could simply shave that forelock growing out of the middle of his forehead and create an entirely new and straight hairline, he'd look like he was NW1.5-2 again!

Well maybe not haha! But I wonder what he would look like if he shaved the forelock off and straightened his hairline...

He would probably be considered an NW2/3 class patient. He's at a stage where his hairline is obviously becoming less aesthetically appealing, but it doesn't yet register as male pattern baldness to the average man/woman.
Cavill is more than an NW2.

I wasn't talking about Cavill, sorry probably should have quoted my post but it is from the guy who posted up his blurry pic of one temple not from a great angle.

Speaking of superheroes, is Ryan Reynolds receeding because I've looked at some pictures when he was younger his hairline is almost identical, but whenever I look at his hair I see a NW2. I'm guessing he has a natural nw2 hairline which isn't uncommon. One guy I think is really ****ed and that's Chris Evans, hes got the winning combo of recession and thinning.

The producer of the film, Charles Rovan, is beginning to go bald himself so maybe he wants to promote the fact that hair loss sufferers can be superheroes too.

Yeah his is moving back quickly for being in the spotlight. In actually alot of guys here would love to have that in there early 30s.

Chris Pine is losing his also.

I'm not sure if it was for effects or but it looked like Reynolds had some scaring on the back of his head in deadpool. But he was playing a mercenary, bad ***.
