hi. my name is jon and i have been losing my hair for a little over a year. i am 19 years old. it seems to get more and more noticable each and every day and it seems to be falling/thinning faster. there is no history of baldness in my family except for my father who has just started to lose his. both my grandfathers have completely full heads of hair. i dont want to jump into conclusions either way, but for some reason i dont want to think this is male pattern baldness. my grandfather (mother's side) experienced balding on the sides and strange patches all over when he was in his 20's. i'd like to know if my symptoms are anything out of the normal.

i am experiencing a diffuse loss all over the top and especially in the back. it is also very thin on the back corners/sides of my head. the front sides are a little thin as well. my scalp has a pretty large amount of dander that shakes off and my scalp is often itchy. i guess you could say that i am still going through puberty in a way. i am still growing and changing...but i have a very significant amount of pubic hair loss. it comes out as much as the hair on my head. also, when i first started losing my hair, my achne got a little bit worse and i had two cysts that came up and had to be removed. i had a dermetologist look at it and do blood work. he said that something came up in the blood work and then they tested again and it was fine. i wanted to know more but he said i was fine. of course i want this taken care of as much as anyone else. i've been using a dht shampoo and rogain for a little bit. are there any other symptoms i should look for? i just want hair

oh, and how can i post a picture on here? thanks

Thinning on the top and vertex sound very much like MBP. The loss of body hair and cycsts may signfiy seperate or otherwise related health problems, but taking account the kind of thinning on your head and the acne, it sounds like theres been a surgence of testosterone would accelerate male pattern baldness

Sounds rough, bro. See another doctor and get a second opinion, but I would reccomend getting on Finasteride/Dutasteride ASAP. Also consider a topical like Spironolactone to fight DHT on the topical front. It sounds like you've got a battle in front of you, one you may not even have a chance of winning with current treatments.

But here is the good news. Even if you lose it all, and once you've managed to accept your loss, you can look forward to having a full head of hair in around 5 years. If you are able to save enough $ in the bank, hair cloning methods will be available, and you will be able to have a full head of real hair that will never go away. I know it sucks not having hair so young, but trust me, if you prepare for the future, you will be loving life when youre 25. If you dont prepare though, you may be miserable for the rest of your life,.

While I cannot be certain of the time frame, some of the people researching this say it will be under five years, with low estimates at about 3. Still its possible it will take longer, or will take some time before its widespread enough to be reasonably affordable.

I am guessing that if you were a NW7, it would take over $20,000 to get back to a NW1. This is a guess. The more hair you have, the less expencive it will become, which is why treatments at this point like Propecia and Dutasteride are always a good idea.

Also one thing to note,. Follicle Cloning is not the only bastion of hope. There are a few treatments on the horizon, such as the topical OSH101, which promise a great deal of growth. Still human trials have just started and we have no conclusive data, so its all hype at the moment. Do a search on OSH101 or OsteoScreen here and you will find some good information.

There's no way you should be losing your pubic hair. Why don't you see an endocrinologist or an internist.

When I was very sick a while ago I lost hair all over however it also made my inherited male pattern baldness worse - so it's possible that is what is happening to you.

It does sound like you might have some sort of medical conditon causing the hair loss so I would look for a doctor. Thyroid problems, blood sugar and a number of infections like Lyme disease can all cause you to lose hair - so see a Doctor.

Regardless even if you are just going bald - it's not worth losing any sleep over because with new hair transplant procedures baldness is pretty much going to be a thing of the past. It already sounds like less pain than going to the dentist.
