Hi all!!
I'm gonna take finasteride 1mg daily but I'm 24 years old and I do not have kids.
So, has anyone had children after quitting propecia?
this question is quiet important for me..

Doctor said you have to wait 7 months after stopping it to try, apparently...
So within that time one can assume all the hair you've saved/grown will disappear?

I came across this posting. Although it could be considered a coincidence, and could very well be one, I would be sooo careful about propecia and child birth.

Subj: Birth defect caused by Propecia?
Date: 5/26/2005
My husband was taking propecia 7 months before we conceived our first child, who was born with a genetic syndrome (Prader-Willi) which is the deletion of some of chromosome 15 from her father.

We were advised that propecia did not need to be discontinued before conceiving our daughter, but now I wonder if her genetic syndrome was a result of this medication? Please advise!

I know what this drug can do to full grown men. We all do. I can only imagine what it does to a fetus, or a child.

I am however glad to hear that people have had children while on propecia with no problem, and hope this is the usual case.

Its not me thats scary, its the drug...

Im just providing my point of view based on the stuff I've found. Im not saying this was definately cause by propecia, but its worth a ponder.

And hey. if you want to take propecia and avoid any scary stories, you are poppin' the wrong pill, daddy-o!!!

There have been plenty of instances on this board, where someone has had trouble conceiving and had a doctor tell them they're crazy to be on Propecia while trying to conceive. In part due to the possible cause of birth defects.
