Going off finasteride, the gyno's killing me

So I think I will have to put the finasteride to rest, the gyno's getting too bad... I immediately felt a sensation around my chest area after I started using finasteride a year ago. The gyno didn't get too bad during the first half a year or so, so I though it won't get any worse. Now, however, I'm pretty sure it has gone even worse so I guess I have no choice but to drop finasteride for good. It hasn't helped my hair anyway so I don't wanna be known as the bald man with the boobs. f*****g sh*t, it's game over for me then, or do you guys know of any other DHT inhibitor than finasteride or dutasteride? I can't get my hands on dutasteride since no doctor will prescribe it to me for hairloss + can't order it because it will probably be stopped by the customs. Dunno if it's worth it to continue with minoxidil either, without a dht stopper it just doesn't feel worth it.

Sorry to hear that man. Honestly your hair looks good. I wish mine looked like that. I understand what you are saying, without a DHT inhibitor it could change things fast. Maybe stay off the finasteride for a week or so and try back and see if it helps. Good luck to you with whatever your decision is.

Why in hell would you even be considering dutasteride if finasteride gave you gyno? I truly cannot fathom your logic.

Sorry to hear that man. Do you have nipple pain and sensitivity or just increased fat in chest area?

First time (14 months ago) that i tryied propecia full dose, gave me nipple pain, libido loss and also gained a couple of kilos in nearly 3 months. I went on finasteride again 1,5 month ago, .33mg (1/3 propecia) ED i think it works, no sides so far, just watery sperm. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Also it looks sometimes that i have something like water retention in my chest area and it looks somewhat swollen but no pain discomfort etc. It doesn't look like gyno though, maybe it's pseudogyno my father has the same but it was not visible on me until last 1-2 months. I will start working out soon and i think it will flatten again as it used to be.

Can you feel a hard lump behind your nipple area? Get sure that you have gyno before you stop!

good luck

Sometimes I have pain around my nipple area, yes... and I can definitely see the increased fat aswell. I'm pretty sure it's gyno because I never had anything like this on the right side of the chest (I had some extra fat on the left side and it has also gotten worse on finasteride). I can even feel my "boobs" when jogging or playing football so I don't think it's only in my head.

And beaner, I thought that finasteride and dutasteride can have very different side-effects...

Thanks, but I think that the pictures don't show the full scale of my hairloss.

how about trying oral spironolactone, maybe not that is probably worse for gyno.

well i have to say you have been damn unlucky,i mean finasteride has not helped your hair and it is starting to give you gyno, you must be well pissed off.
All i can say is maybe give the finasteride 3 more months just to be sure, then at least you can say you give it your best shot,

Yeah well I don't know if I'm that pissed off, I'm starting to just accept my fate. It would've been cool had the finasteride worked, but it wouldn't be forever anyways so now I just have to adjust to it (balding) sooner.

finasteride gives me stronger sides than dutasteride i believe. I only take .5mg of finasteride, and only took dutasteride once per week

Don't you work out as a football player I assume it wouldn't be so bad if you worked your upper-body strength?

GHG can't order dutasteride because the finnish customs will not allow drugs into their country.
GHG ,i suggest you move to england, you will have better access to hairloss drugs,be able to watch premier league matches, you seem to have a brilliant knowledge of english culture and your english is better than many english, including mine

I'm sorry to hear that mate but at least your hair still looks good. So all this time you took finasteride for over a year it never gave you any positive results?

I'm getting a lot of premier league on telly here in Finland, I guess more than you get over there  ... would be cool to attend the matches in person, though :p . Hey thanks for the compliment regarding my english, didn't know it was that good. Actually I have thought about living in England some day, would be kinda cool I guess.

Well it's hard to tell because no one knows how much hair I'd have left had I never taken finasteride. But definitely no regrowth, and my hair is a lot thinner than it was when I started.

GHG, have you checked whether you have pseudogyno or 'real' gyno?

http://www.hairsite.com/hair-loss/forum ... order=time

I think it's the real one, I can feel the tissue around my nipple. It kinda feels the same as the fat on my stomach, but I can't be sure. I'd still go for the real gyno. I didn't thoroughly understand the idea of the pseudogyno. Could you explain it? Why would these drugs cause a pseudogyno?

If it's the real gyno, you'll know about it 8)
http://www.cosmedica.com/cosmedica/html/ba_g4.asp

I think pseudogyno could be because of the way estrogen promotes the deposition of fat in certain locations. But don't quote me on that. Anyway, I think it's supposed to be very rare in slim/in shape guys.

GHG, I would consult with your doctor to make sure what you have is gyno before you make the wrong decision for something you never had in the first place. Self diagnosis is not always a great choice when a doctor can always give you peace of mind to find out if your self diagnosis is correct. Second opinions always help Dr. GHG. By the way, from your picture I see no evidence of hairloss just a high forehead. Remember after 20 your hair starts to thin due to age.

I completly agree with drhouse, you seem to have become quite paranoid (sp?), last week it was the bloated face on minoxidil, now the gyno on Propecia, two sides that people rarely got.
