For those taking the Big 3, and for those interested in taking it

I have a question for those of you taking the Big 3, that start taking all three products at the same time -- how do you know which treatments are working for you and which aren't?

The reason I'm starting one product at a time is so that I can see what works and what doesn't and discontinuing the use of the products that don't work... but if you start everything all at once, doesn't it become a guessing game as to which products are effective for you?

I'm doing this not only for expense related reasons, but so I'm not taking a product that is not doing what it's supposed to and could possibly be causing other adverse effects (that may not represent themselves as physical side effects). Why subject your body to a potentially dangerous product that's not doing something beneficial for your hair?

There is some theories out there that min is more effective when taken with finasteridel and vice Versa. I started with finasteride and it caused me to shed weak hairs for 2 to 3 years before growing back fully strong. I don't think I regrew hair. But it made my current follicles stronger and they may have sprouted new hairs.

I've been on min for 7 months and I'm not seeing any progress except for my crown. The front end and middle are continuously getting thinner and I think the
min is helping it thin faster. Now keep in mind that
doesnt mean rogaine won't work on your hairline. For many men it does. Everybody is different.

If you were brave and didn't worry about altering hormones and Pfs I would have started with finasteride first cause it is more effective. However if you are one of the lucky ones that minoxidil works for you may have saved your hair and your hormones so that would be really smart.

The main point though is that the 3 work in different ways and add synergy to the regimen. This has been proven to be more
effective then any one treatment alone. Check out Bernstein medical photos of rogaine combined with finasteride. Not it
takes 1.5 to 2 years for results.

Ive been taking finastiride/minoxidl for almost 3 years (with some sporadic uses of nizoral), I'm almost certain the one that has maintained the most it's the propecia, but just in case I keep applying minoxidil (day/night).

The key words here are "just in case". If it were me I would probably just quit the minoxidil and see what happens. But the only way to not risk losing any hair is to keep taking it. So you may be spending money unnecessarily...

I don't know which treatments are working and which aren't, I just know that the regimen as a whole is working. All 3 each serve their own unique purposes. I'm not looking to drop anything from the regimen. For me it's very practical (economically) and not all that intrusive on my day-to-day life. It's not broke so I'm not about to try fixing it.

Malin it seems like you started minoxidil about 8 months after you started Propecia, so is that why you're convinced that Propecia is doing the most for you? Did Propecia top out for you at 8 months, or did you just want to add more products to the regimen?

Wouldn't you rather know which product actually is working though? Not even because of the expense, but just for peace of mind, knowing which product you actually need and which products are "optional"?

jeffshair,

I'm sure they're all playing their respective roles. finasteride works internally to inhibit dht which stops the progression of hair loss, and minoxidil stimulates regrowth topically in some unknown way. I don't think keto is necessary, but I look at it as icing on the cake. It can only help. As for peace of mind - the regimen is working, so I have all the peace of mind I need. I think keto shampoo is the only optional thing here.
