Does this look like male pattern baldness?

As far as I can tell I have always had noticeably thin hair and it's a constant concern of mine. Recently I got a haircut and noticed that my right temple looks like its receding. Does this look like male pattern baldness? I also added older pics for reference. I'm 20 by the way. Any input would be much appreciated.

I don't think it is male pattern baldness, otherwise it started at the age of 10. Your hair seems to naturally be thin at the front.

Progress report: My hair's a bit longer now and the thinness along my hairline and on my scalp is a little more obvious. From these pictures should I be worried? Also recently my doctor recommended I take prozac(for depression) and I was wondering the chance that it'll impact hairloss for me?( I've read that those with genetic disposition for hairloss, I.E. me, might experience irreversible hairloss from the drug)

No male pattern baldness, your hair is naturally thin in the front and it looks like you still have your juvenile hairline. A litte resession might indicate that you are getting your mature hairlone, enjoy life friend, you have been blessed.

I dunno guys that crown pic looks like MBP to me.... you do look like you naturally thin hair but... the way the hair lays and stuff on the crown looks like male pattern baldness to my eyes...but thats just my opinion

does a lot of hair come out in the shower?

Hmm, I never really paid much attention to the crown. I don't have any picture references of that area from my younger days. When I shower I do notice some hair coming out, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's a lot.
Here's a couple more pics i just took of the crown/back of head. The angle is a little different.

How is the thickness compared to the back of your head (check all over)?

If it's the same, don't worry about it. If it seems thinner on top, you might have male pattern baldness but no real temple recession yet.

The hair on the back of my head is also pretty thin. The top and the sides are thin, but both the sides and (especially) the top seem to have less hair density compared to the back. That's always been the case for me though, ever since middle school my peers took it upon themselves to point out that it looks like I'm balding on top. :sobbing:

With the exception of my hair line I haven't really noticed much change. Also I should mention my family "hair history". On my mother's side of the family My grandma, 2 aunts and 1 uncle all have thin hair, but they have A LOT of hair. My mom's dad is in his late 60's and is a norwood class 4a. My mom has the same problem as me(thin hair and a lack of density) and she's resorted to using hair powder to hide it. As far as I can tell my dad's hair has thinned out within the past decade but he still has a lot of hair and he's in his early 40's like my mom.

Hello! nobody can say with definite assertion if you have or not have Androgenetic Alopecia; But, you have NO symptoms of Androgenetic Alopecia as shown in your pics. Your hairline, whatever the way it is, is because of your ethnicity, individual trait, and partly because of your maturity with age, ie. slightly larger forehead now, and if at all. You need to keep an eye for the next several months/years and report any deterioration in deeper temples etc.; and also list any other symptoms such as excessive hair shedding in shower/comb etc. We would be very interested in knowing if Androgenetic Alopecia actually does creep on you

Interesting, I don't know that it's growth from from my forehead though. I have a photo comparison 20 yrs old vs 23 yrs old. I've never noticed excessive shedding though.

Your forehead has without a doubt grown and is probably the cause of your hair appearing to have moved back. Anyway dude don't stress, your hair is awesome you have a great hairline. Go get a miniturization test to ease your mind. I doubt u have anything to worry about

Alrighty! So it is now at borderline and alarming stage. I say this because, your right temple is receding inward which is a preliminary sign in most cases. And any more recession in a certain pattern in so many months or so would definitely confirm Androgenetic Alopecia. Also note that your side burn area is also thinning in comparison to rest of the head. And your heredity history is tilted towards your Androgenetic Alopecia status.

It seems that you have larger forehead than before in '10. But it could have been dismissed as just part of aging process.

At this stage, we do not want to give you wrong information. You might want to see a derm with hairloss expertise to look at it firsthand.

Or else, read my previous posts to see how you may want to keep a close eye on hairline at home with some measuring on your own for months.

okay, so a derm the specializes in hair? I saw my normal derm who used to treat my acne, told him i noticed thinning at corners. He didn't bother examining my hair, just told me he can give me Propecia. I asked about finasteride and he was reluctant to give me that as an alternative. He didn't really confirm or deny that I have hairloss, so I guess I should see a different doctor. DOes anyone else have any insight about finding a good hairloss doctor??

Saw another derm, and he looked at my hair, said i would maybe lose about 1"-.5" along my hairline, but not much else. prescribed me proscar in case I wanted to prevent that.

Okay so it's 5 years later. been on proscar .625 mg. hairline has stayed virtually the same. in all this time I wonder if it's really necessary.

I found out a couple years ago my grandfather on my mother's side is actually my step grandfather.
He's the only male in my family that ever really had the horseshoe balding pattern. The people in my Mom and Dad's respective family all have thin hair.

The thing with my dad's side of the family is not only is their hair thin, but my dad, some cousins and uncles have very low density hair. That being said, my dad is in his late 40's-early 50's and he doesn't have a terribly high hairline and seems to have retained most his hair. So I have a derm appointment tomorrow. going to asked the Doctor if we can monitor myself off finasteride, see if things get worse.
